DA RFO XI - Regulatory Division Thus, ensuring that the agricultural products being supplied in the food chain are of good quality and safe to consume.

As a mandate, the Regulatory Division commits to implement and enforce laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to plant and animal health, productions and propagations, regulate feeds, veterinary drugs, and other agricultural products as required by laws. This office ensures that all our agricultural stakeholders engaged in plant and animal production particularly those applying for registration,

licenses, accreditation, and certifications adhere to the provisions/requirements as stipulated in the legal documents. Regulatory Division is composed of three (3) sections; Registration and Licensing Section; Plant Pest/Animal Disease Monitoring Surveillance Section; and Inspection/Certification/Accreditation Section wherein all programs/projects/activities fall under the Department of Agricultureโ€™s Major Final Output (MFO) 6: The Plant and Animal Regulation Services. However, a Special Section was created to cater special concern activities that are not within our regular mandates.

Food Safety Technical Briefing Held in Davao del Norte!

In celebration of Food Safety Awareness Week 2025 with the theme โ€œFood Safety: Putting Science in Action,โ€ the Department of Agriculture โ€“ Regional Field Office XI (DA-RFO XI), together with the Food Safety Regulatory and Support Agencies (FSRAs) under the DA and in coordination with the Provincial Local Government Unit of Davao del Norte, successfully conducted a Food Safety Technical Briefing for various sectoral organizations in the province.

The activity brought together farmers and fisherfolk, food vendors and processors, establishment operators and inspectors, as well as LGU personnel, to strengthen their understanding of science-based food safety practices and promote a culture of food safety across all sectors of the agri-fishery value chain.

Thank you to all participants and partners for their active involvement in this initiative! Together, letโ€™s continue putting science in action toward a safer and more resilient food system for all.

Kini nga kalihokan gihimo uban sa koordinasyon sa Municipal Commodity Focal Coordinators, Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC), ug sa Regional Crop Protection Center (RCPC).

Ang maong kalihokan gibase sa tumong nga mapaayo ang ani sa mga tanum aron makab-ot ang mas daghang pagkaon ug mas lig-on nga ekonomiya.

Gisugyot sa mga mag-uuma nga buhaton ang husto ug tukmang pamaagi sa cultural ug chemical management, apil na ang Integrated Pest Management (IPM). Gihangyo usab sila nga dayon nga i-report ang bisan unsang insidente sa peste sa buhatan sa municipal agriculture sa labing sayo nga panahon aron mahatagan dayon og tukmang tambag, aplikasyon sa kontrol, ug inisyal nga diagnosis aron mapugngan ang pagkaylap sa peste.

FIRST SEMESTER ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION FOR REGULATORY SERVICES FOR CY 2025

As a mandate, the Regulatory Division commits to implement and enforce laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to plant and animal health, productions and propagations, regulate feeds, veterinary drugs, and other agricultural products as required by laws.

This office ensures that all our agricultural stakeholders engaged in plant and animal production particularly those applying for registration, licenses, permits, and certifications adhere to the provisions/requirements as stipulated in the legal documents. Thus, ensuring that the agricultural products being supplied in the food chain are of good quality and safe to consume.

Of these regulatory services, sustained coordination and collaboration with the attached Agencies and Bureaus and other Operating units are closely linked for the realization of implementing and enforcing over-all services in the regional level.

Hence, this activity aims to conduct a comprehensive first semester evaluation aimed at assessing progress, addressing challenges, and aligning strategies to achieve regulatory plans, activities and programs for CY 2025.

Dialogue Meeting on Plant Pest and Animal Disease Monitoring and Surveillance Activities

In line with the continuing efforts to strengthen plant and animal health and biosecurity in the Davao Region, a Dialogue Meeting on Plant Pest and Animal Disease Monitoring and Surveillance Activities was convened. The meeting brought together the Department of Agriculture RFO XIโ€™s Regulatory Division, Regional Crop Protection Center (RCPC), Field Operations Division, and the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC).

The objective of the meeting was to discuss and align strategies for effective plant pest and animal disease monitoring and surveillance, harmonize reporting protocols, and foster collaboration among relevant stakeholders. These efforts are vital to ensuring that plant and animal protection measures are coordinated and responsive to both present and emerging threats.

Key discussion points included:

(1) Updates on plant pest and animal disease monitoring and surveillance activities
(2) Harmonization of reporting protocols
(3) Strengthening inter-agency coordination and data sharing

The Dialogue Meeting served as a crucial platform for reinforcing collaboration and streamlining efforts among key agencies involved in plant pest and animal disease monitoring and surveillance in the Davao Region. With strengthened coordination, harmonized protocols, and a shared commitment to health and biosecurity, the Davao Region is better positioned to safeguard its agricultural resources against current and emerging threats. The insights and agreements from this meeting will guide future initiatives and ensure a more resilient and responsive plant and animal health system.

PhilGAP Training on Banana Production ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ

Twenty dedicated Cardava banana growers successfully completed a two-day training on Philippine Good Agricultural Practices (PhilGAP) in Asuncion, Davao del Norte. Held on March 27-28, experts from various government agencies shared invaluable insights on the key modules and certification guidelines, empowering our farmers with essential knowledge of Philippine Good Agricultural Practices and banana production.

This initiative was requested and funded by World Fruits Trading (WFT) as they aim to take local bananas to the global market. ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ’š
