: At A Glance

As of May 18, 2026, the signature campaign for the petition to convene a Constitutional Convention to revise, in whole or in part, the 2019 University Student Government (USG) Constitution remains ongoing.

To move forward, at least fifteen percent (15%) of the student population from each college should sign the petition. Once this threshold is met, the petition will be put to a referendum administered by the University Student Election Commission (USEC).

Should two-thirds (2/3) of the votes cast favor the petition, applications for student delegates will open to bona fide DLSU-D students. These delegates will then be elected by the student body of each college through an election likewise conducted by the USEC.

The elected student delegates will compose the Constitutional Convention.

The USG encourages students to actively engage in the process and take part in shaping a Constitution that reflects the present needs and future direction of the Lasallian community. Sign the petition today, Lasallians!

Today, 11th of May 2026, the House of Representatives exceeded the one-third constitutional threshold required for the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte with 257 affirmative votes, 25 against, and 9 abstentions.

On the same day, Sen. Vicente “Tito” Sotto III was removed from the Senate Presidency, making way for Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano to take over with a narrow majority of 13 senators. Present during the voting was Senator Bato Dela Rosa, who returned after 5 months-long absence, only to be met with resistance as the NBI attempted to serve the warrant of arrest of the International Criminal Court (ICC) against him.

We urge the Senate to expedite the trial of Sara Duterte and immediately surrender Bato dela Rosa to the authorities. Amidst the current political and national instability, it is imperative that politicians who have amassed billions of pesos from the people, betrayed public trust, and caused the deaths of thousands of innocent Filipino citizens be held accountable.

These events in a single day reflect the worsening political climate in the Philippines. And at a time when accountability must prevail, Marcos Jr. remains silent as these allies evade responsibility and institutions are maneuvered to protect those in power.

Ang pamahalaang dapat nagsisilbi sa mamamayan, ngayo’y kanlungan ng mga dapat papanagutin ng bayan.

MARCOS, SINGILIN.
DUTERTE, LITISIN.
DELA ROSA, ARESTUHIN.

President Madlangbayan acknowledged student participation; called to support the petition to convene a Constitutional Convention.

“Ang reporma ay hindi magtatagumpay kung wala ang mga estudyante. The power to reform the system… rests on you, the student body. Kaya’t nananawagan kami sa inyong pakikiisa.

Oras na. Panahon na. Reporma sa Konstitusyon, Ngayon na.”

President Madlangbayan emphasized the significance of structural changes in student governance:

“These issues make one thing clear: the challenge before us is not simply to improve participation within the current system, but to fundamentally examine and redesign the system itself.

Thus, the call for reform is not only justified—it is necessary and urgent.”
