Pag-asa NHS Values Education department set the very first 2025 National Observance of Filipino Values Month
Pag-asa National High School successfully conducted the month-long celebration of Values Month for the year 2025, anchored on the national theme “Bagong Pilipinas, Bagong Pag-asa: Pagkakaisa at Pananagutan para sa Makabuluhang Pagbabago.” The activities aimed to strengthen the learners’ sense of unity, responsibility, environmental concern, and appreciation of Filipino values through various academic, creative, and performance-based competitions.
The Filipino Values Month was established by Presidential Proclamation No. 479 in 1994 to promote and preserve the core values of Filipino culture. This observance is held annually in the month of November.
It marks the celebration and recognition of Values that emphatically Filipino. These include love of God and country, solid family ties, care and regard for older folks, perseverance and tolerance. Filipino Values refers to the promotion of principles that a greater part of the Filipinos have generally held significant in their lives. These values incorporate their extraordinary gathering of belief systems, moral practices, manners, and social/individual qualities.
Thus, the program aims to:
1. Promote positive Filipino values such as unity, discipline, and responsibility.
2. Provide opportunities for learners to express their creativity, critical thinking, and character through values-based activities.
3. Strengthen camaraderie, teamwork, and social awareness among students.
4. Encourage active participation in school programs that foster meaningful change.

The celebration began with an orientation on the purpose and significance of Values Month, setting a positive tone for the activities lined up for the entire month last November 3.
One of the highlighted event when the school launched the Fund Raising Activity: “Trash to Cash Project—Bote at Papel para sa Kinabukasan” initiated by the Values Education department. It was held every Friday from November 3–28, 2025, between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM, the project encouraged learners to donate recyclable materials. Grade 7 and 8 students collected used white papers, while Grades 9 and 10 collected used bottles. This activity, supervised at the Values Education Department Collection Area, promoted environmental responsibility and resourcefulness among students.
The activities were the following on its respective dates and winners:

On December 5, 2025, Pag-asa National High School stands united against Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC). Under the leadership of School Head Pedro B. Bonayon Jr. and the guidance of VAWC Coordinator Araceli Ramos, our teachers and students commit to raising awareness, promoting safety, and fostering a respectful, supportive community.

English department had a blast as the teachers ended the month-long celebration of the reading month in November.

The celebration of the Reading Month at Pag-asa National High School for the year 2025 has successfully raised the significance of reading and meaningful change, in line with the theme “Reading is a bridge to a future full of hope”. A series of activities were conducted throughout November to strengthen learners’ interest in reading and curiosity in learning.
The month-long celebration officially opened on November 6, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the covered court, where students received an orientation about the importance and objectives of the English reading month. This short program kicked off the mood for the up-coming activities, emphasizing discipline and eagerness to learn thru reading by the opening remarks led by the principal, Mr. Pedro Bonayon, Jr.
Students were amazed when Ms. Jennifer Sandrejo presented her story in front of students as the first reading ambassador.
The following activities were supervised at the English Department thru the assistance of the students from the English club.
Poster Making Competition was held at the Bulwagang Pag-asa last November 12, 2025. The winners were the following: Champion- Solenn B. Villanueva (10-Emerald), 1st Place- Lorrain Julienne Bacaycay (10 Emerald),
2nd Place- Chloe E. Labadlabad (9- Aquarius), 3rd Place- Hannah Lorainne P. Omega (9- Andromeda).
Oratorical Writing and Delivery was held at Bulwagang Pag-asa the next day produced the following winners:
Champion- Prince Reynor Basas (10-Ruby), 1st Place- Raeniel Jann Tadeo (Grade 9 – Aquarius), 2nd Place- Carlos Simeone A. Ruiz (10-Gold), 3rd Place- Charles Jerald Alejaga (10-Ruby)
On November 14, 2025, the Essay Writing Competition was held at the library from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM, with eleven participants showcasing their writing skills while reflecting on the value of reading. The entries were evaluated by Mr. Rudolf C. Calimag. The listed students bagged the following ranks: Champion- Aika Caag,

Story Retelling contest was conducted on the same day at the Bulwagan after lunch. The winners are the following students: Champion- Yunna Belle C. On November 17, 2025, the Word Games happened at the library with students participating from Grades 7 to 10. The winners manifested their comprehensive knowledge in word formation/recognition: Champion- Elvin Melegrito, 1st Place- Nivram Magnaye, 2nd Place- Jhechell Cadayong, 3rd Place- Akiesha Sy.
Quiz Bee Competition was accomplished at the Bulwagan with groups participating from Grades 7 to 10. The winners exhibited extensive knowledge and teamwork: Champion- Prince Reynor Basas, Precious Anne R. Agno, Luigi P. Sigaya, Daniel A. Sumaya; 1st Place- Lance Christopher C. Jutiz, Gian Audie A. Next event is declamation contest which happened at the Bulwagan ng Pag-asa where the following students excelled and were able to interpret their piece. Champion- Raeniel Jann Tadeo (Grade 9 – Aquarius).
Most anticipated event was the English camp which was held at the covered court last November 22, 2025.
There were 4 Houses (Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw) and each House will have 2 teams: Gryffindor - Team Harry Potter (red) & Team Hermione Granger (pink), Slytherin - Team Draco Malfoy (green) & Team Tom Riddle (white), Hufflepuff - Team Cedric Diggory (yellow) & Team Newt Scamander (black), Ravenclaw - Team Luna Lovegood (blue) & Team Cho Chang (grey).
The English teachers prepared eight games to use their strategies and wit in the world of literacy and numeracy in the field of magic. Beweilderes Wizards, Wizard’s Duel, Marauder’s Map Quest and Mystic Morphs to name a few of the prepared magical games.
Team Newt Scamander (black) was declared as the best team.
Culminating activity and the awarding ceremony was held the same day, December 1, 2025 from 10:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the covered court. Performances displayed students’ creativeness, novelty, and camaraderie.
A major highlight of the celebration was the Dramatic choric which ended the competition on the culminating day. The final winners were the following: Champion- Grade 10 level, 1st Place- Grade 9 level, 2nd Place- Grade 8 level, 3rd Place- Grade 7 level.

as a part of the itinerary of the nationwide campaign of one of the country’s leading deodorant brand Rexona with partnership to DepEd’s Galaw Pilipinas program, Rexona representatives handed boxes of their products to head teachers Mrs. Adela P. Sacay (Filipino), Mrs. Araceli A. Ramos (Math) and Mr. Rudolf C. Calimag (English),
Rexona SMS Philippines Healthcare Solutions and DepEd crafted the following events such as educational components which sweat science deck included discussion on the science behind sweating; interactive components wherein MAPEH Department implemented the integration of the 30-second of Bini dance in contemporary dance in support of DepEd’s Galaw Pilipinas and product sampling component wherein students received product samples.
Rexona representatives distributed their different products during their campus visit to selected participants in Pag-asa NHS after their talk and the photo-video documentation of the dance.
There was a briefing about the MOVE IN WITH CONFIDENCE at Bulwagang Pag-asa together with the Rexona representatives, MAPEH focal persons and Mr. Prudencio S. Pineda II (OIC-EPS, MAPEH).
Pag-asa NHS brought active learners and educators to perform the Move with confidence dance last November 20 for the video documentation.

The third day of the 2025 In-Service Training for teacher generated day of a productive session.
The program proceeded with the day’s agenda which is the festival of action research accomplished by teachers of Pag-asa National High School. Dr. Rudolf C. Calimag provided the agenda for the day which is empowering educators through inquiry: transforming practices, inspiring practices.

Action researchers were Mrs. Richiel Toledo, Mrs. Rachellemyne Deraper, Mrs. Diane Arellano, Mr. Greg Mar De La Tonga, Mr. Freshler Camacam, Ms. Madeline Perolina and Dr. Sheryl Zarsadias. Mr. Marlon Saclauso accepted the challenge along with Mr. Prudence Pineda II (OIC-EPS) MAPEH.
This ended the inset training and it was given to our educators with valuable strategies to enhance instruction and foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment for a variety of students using differentiated tasks.

The second day of the 2025 In-Service Training for teachers embarked to another day of fruitful session.
The program jumpstarted with an soda pop dance of all the teachers present. Mrs. Lo**ta Visitacion presented the management of learning. Mrs. Adela P. Sacay, Ms. Roma Marian F. Guadaña , Dr. Rudolf C. Calimag, Mrs. Araceli A. Ramos and Mrs. Reylyn Mae Codera provided lectures while Mrs. Lea-Ann Cascano and Dr. Sheryl B. The first day of the 2025 In-Service Training for teachers commenced successfully under the leadership of our School Principal, Sir Pedro B. Bonayon Jr.

The program featured insightful sessions by Dr. Rudolf C. Calimag, Head Teacher of the English Department, on Inclusive Learning, and Ms. Roma Marian F. Guadaña, Master Teacher I, on Differentiated Activities. The training provided our educators with valuable strategies to enhance instruction and foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.

Pag-asa NHS triumphs Wellness Campus Program

Pag-asa NHS emerged victorious from the recent 2025 – 2026 Wellness Campus Program of the City Schools Division of Dasmariñas in partnership with Nestle Philippines and Greatfil Team Inc.

Pag-asa NHS placed third at the Hataw Sayaw category. Mr. Jinny Jeff Reyes is the wellness coordinator while Ms. Queny Bee Quitos as their coach and Joshua Magangan served as the choreographer. The participants included 50 students.

Pag-asa NHS positioned at first place at the Sarap Sustansya Cook-Off competition. Mrs. Melanie De Guia supervised the following students namely: Richele S. Castillo, Alexis Ydelle V. Movido and Denisse Althea A. Lares of G10 Jade.

“They were my former students in my advisory class. Mayroon silang very good academic records. Very consistent sila, goal driven, at madiskarte”, she shared.
According to the mechanics, it should be nutritious and budget-friendly meal in a dish. She got an idea to cook puso ng saging when she saw Mam Cecil cooking a dish with that main ingredient before they decided to use puso ng saging. She cited the help of Mr. Reyes to pick puso ng saging, tanglad, kalamansi and malunggay. In this way, they were able to cut the expenses. “Nasa mechanics din kasi na may mga gulay na iha-harvest sa school or sa sariling backyard”, she added.

It resulted in the following set. Appetizer: crispy bulaklak ng saging, Main course: embutidong puso ng saging, Juice: tanglad juice with kalamansi at luya and Dessert: banana pudding.

Overall, Pag-asa NHS ranked second best implementing school competition – Junior High School Category.
