The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) informs the public that its official website experienced a brief defacement incident on September 8, 2026. The BIR and DICT Technical Teams immediately addressed the incident and restored the website shortly thereafter.

Based on the BIR’s initial assessment, taxpayer information and core BIR systems were not affected by the incident. As a precaution, the BIR is conducting additional security checks.

Chatbot REVIE may be temporarily unavailable while technical work is ongoing. The BIR Technical Team continues to monitor the situation and is working to restore REVIE as soon as possible.

The BIR is coordinating with DICT-NCERT, the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), and the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group to further investigate the incident and strengthen security measures.

The One-Time Tax Abatement Program for Micro Taxpayers, issued on June 22, 2026 through Revenue Regulations (RR) No. 4-2026, provides qualified micro taxpayers relief from outstanding tax liabilities and penalties. Upon the recommendation of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the BIR also expanded the VAT exemption on medicines through Revenue Memorandum Circular (RMC) No. 27-2026 issued on April 8, 2026, making more essential medicines VAT-exempt and helping reduce healthcare costs for Filipinos.

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has issued Revenue Memorandum Circular (RMC) No. 75-2026, providing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) to guide taxpayers and other stakeholders on the application, processing, and issuance of the One-Time Transaction (ONETT) Computation Sheet (OCS) and the Electronic Certificate Authorizing Registration (eCAR) for property transactions.

The Circular consolidates key policies and procedures covering ONETT transactions, including the applicable type of tax/es, filing and payment procedures, documentary requirements, processing offices, prescribed processing timelines, and other common concerns involving the transfer of real properties, shares of stock, donations, and estates. It also clarifies the requirements for the issuance, replacement, and validity of eCARs, as well as the application of relevant tax rules in various transaction scenarios.

The issuance aims to provide taxpayers with clearer guidance on ONETT transactions, promote uniform implementation of existing policies, and facilitate faster and more efficient processing of applications for OCS and eCAR.

Starting March 16, 2026, branch offices of the Social Security System will implement a compressed workweek from Monday to Thursday in line with government energy conservation protocols.

A skeletal workforce will be on duty on Fridays to ensure that branch services remain uninterrupted, with branches continuing to serve members and employers Monday to Friday (except on holidays).

• Monday to Thursday: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Friday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (skeletal workforce on duty)

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) adopts a 4-day on-site and 1-day work-from-home arrangement effective Monday, March 9, as part of government energy conservation measures amid rising global oil prices.

Under Revenue Memorandum Order No. 007-2026, BIR personnel will report on-site from Monday to Thursday, while work-from-home arrangements will be implemented every Friday.

Frontline services under the Large Taxpayers Service, the Regional Offices, and the Revenue District Offices will remain operational on Fridays, with appropriate staffing arrangements to ensure the uninterrupted delivery of taxpayer services such as taxpayer registration, filing, payment assistance, and inquiries.

This is in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for government agencies to reduce electricity and fuel consumption by 10% to 20%.

The BIR will also implement additional energy-saving measures across offices, including reduced electricity use, fuel-efficient vehicle operations, and expanded use of digital services.
