Malampusong gipahigayon sa Department of Agriculture (DA), uban sa suporta sa Kagamhanang Lokal sa Dapitan pinaagi sa City Agriculture’s Office, ang Rice Information Caravan niadtong Septyembre 3, 2026, sa Barangay Bagting, Dapitan City.

Gitambongan kini sa mga mag-uuma ug mga kaabag sa sektor sa agrikultura alang sa usa ka importante nga pagtulun-an ug pagpaambitay sa kahibalo kabahin sa hustong pagdumala ug pag-atiman sa ilang mga umahan.

Pinaagi sa maong kalihokan, gihatagan og dugang kahibalo ang mga mag-uuma kabahin sa hustong pagtanom ug pag-atiman sa humay, pag-ila ug pagsumpo sa mga peste ug sakit sa pananum, ug mga pamaagi sa malahutayong pagpanguma.

Mitambong sa kalihokan sila City Agriculturist Cyril A. Patangan, George B. Vallente sa DA-APCO Zamboanga del Norte, ug Hon. Councilor Dennis A. Tan, kinsa mihatag og mensahe isip representante ni City Mayor Evelyn “Belen” T. Uy.

Kabahin usab sa programa ang pagpang-apod-apod sa DA og mga materyales nga magamit sa mga mag-uuma, lakip na ang Rice Disease Diagnostic Kits, mga brochure kabahin sa pagsumpo sa Rice Black Bug, mga basahon sa agrikultura, ug organic fertilizers.

Sumala sa City Agriculture’s Office, dako og ikatabang ang maong mga materyales aron mas dali ug mas tukma ang paghimo og desisyon sa mga mag-uuma sa pag-atiman sa ilang mga pananum. Pinaagi niini, mas mapanalipdan ang humay batok sa mga sakit ug peste ug mas mapalambo ang produksyon ug ani.

Gipasiugda usab sa kalihokan nga ang kahibalo usa sa labing importanteng puhunan sa usa ka mag-uuma. Kon mas nasayod ug nasangkapan ang mga mag-uuma, mas andam sila sa pag-atubang sa mga hagit sa umahan ug sa pagpanalipod sa ilang panginabuhian ug pamilya.

Nagpadayon ang Kagamhanang Lokal sa Dapitan sa pakigtambayayong sa DA ug uban pang mga kaabag aron ang hustong impormasyon, teknolohiya, ug mga programa sa agrikultura mas duol ug mas dali maabot sa mga mag-uuma.

Pinaagi sa padayong paghatag og kahibalo ug suporta, nagtumong ang lokal nga panggamhanan nga mapalig-on pa ang sektor sa agrikultura ug matabangan ang mga mag-uuma sa pagkab-ot sa mas lig-on, produktibo, ug malahutayong panginabuhian.

RICE INFORMATION CARAVAN:
BRINGING KNOWLEDGE CLOSER TO OUR FARMERS

Today, September 3, 2026, the Department of Agriculture, in partnership with the City Government of Dapitan and the City Agriculture’s Office, successfully conducted the RICE INFORMATION CARAVAN at Barangay Bagting, Dapitan City.

The activity brought together our dear farmers and agriculture partners in an important learning and information-sharing session focused on strengthening our farmers’ knowledge and skills in rice production, pest and disease management, and sustainable farming practices.

The caravan was honored by the presence of our City Agriculturist, Mr. Cyril A. Patangan, Mr. George B. Vallente, DA-APCO Zamboanga del Norte, and Hon. Councilor Dennis A. Tan, who delivered the welcome remarks on behalf of our City Mayor, Hon. Evelyn T. Uy.

As part of the activity, the Department of Agriculture distributed valuable agricultural information and learning materials, including:
🌾 Rice Disease Diagnostic Kits
🐞 Management of the Rice Black Bug brochures
📖 Other relevant agricultural information materials
🌱 Organic fertilizers to support our farmers’ production needs

These resources are more than just materials—they are tools for better decision-making in the field. Through timely and practical information, our farmers become better equipped to identify rice diseases, manage pests such as the rice black bug, apply appropriate interventions, and adopt practices that can contribute to healthier crops and improved productivity.

Knowledge is one of the most important investments we can give our farmers. When farmers are informed, they are empowered to respond to challenges in the field with greater confidence and make decisions that can help protect their crops, livelihood, and families.

We are truly grateful to the Department of Agriculture for bringing this meaningful initiative closer to the farming communities of Dapitan City. We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to our farmers who took the time to participate, listen, learn, and share their experiences. Your active participation made this caravan a meaningful and successful one.

And of course, the activity ended on a happy and thoughtful note as packed lunches were distributed to our farmer-participants. A simple gesture of appreciation for the hardworking men and women who continue to help feed our communities.

Led by School Principal Angelita V. Elumba, students and faculty tested their Contingency Plan through a live simulation. With the vital support of the CDRRMO and the Dapitan City Police Station, this activity sharpens our emergency preparedness and builds a safer, more resilient learning community for everyone.

In line with strengthening emergency preparedness and ensuring community safety, the Rizal Memorial Institute of Dapitan City Inc. (RMIDCI) successfully participated in the National Simultaneous School Safety Drill today, September 3, 2026.

The activity aimed to enhance the crisis response capabilities of school personnel, students, and emergency responders. By simulating a live scenario, the drill allowed participants to execute established safety protocols in real time, equipping the school community with critical skills to navigate active threat situations effectively.

Under the leadership of School Principal Angelita V. Elumba, participants navigated a realistic, controlled simulation to test the school’s Contingency Plan. The exercise demonstrated the practical ex*****on of emergency procedures while reinforcing core safety principles. Key takeaways from the drill emphasized maintaining calm under pressure, strictly adhering to safety protocols, ensuring clear communication channels, and coordinating seamlessly with first responders.

Furthermore, the simulation provided a valuable opportunity to identify operational gaps and reinforce multi-agency collaboration. By actively involving the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) and the Dapitan City Police Station, the drill strengthened inter-agency coordination and significantly elevated the school's overall emergency posture.

Disaster preparedness remains a shared responsibility. Through continuous training, regular safety drills, and the active support and leadership of the City Government of Dapitan, RMIDCI remains committed to partnering with local authorities to foster a safe, secure, and resilient learning environment for its students, faculty, and the entire community.

𝐕𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐝, 𝐃𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐞𝐝: 𝐋𝐆𝐔 𝐃𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐧 𝐇𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞

Giving concerned sectors a meaningful voice in matters that directly affect the community, the Sangguniang Panlungsod ng Dapitan City conducted a public hearing on a proposed 5-peso increase in tricycle fares on September 2, 2026, at the Bagting Covered Court, Barangay Bagting, Dapitan City.

The public hearing was jointly spearheaded by the Committee on Rules and Revision of Ordinances and the Committee on Public Utilities to discuss Committee Referral No. 257-2026. This referral seeks to amend City Ordinance No. 2022-483, entitled “An Ordinance Prescribing the Rules and Regulations in the Operation of Motorized Tricycles and Granting of Franchise for the Operation Thereof Within the Territorial Jurisdiction of the City of Dapitan,” particularly Article VIII on Fares and Freight.

The consultation was led by City Councilor Jeneth N. Baje, Chairperson of the Committee on Rules and Revision of Ordinances, and Councilor John D. Empeynado, Vice Chairperson of the Committee on Public Utilities. They were joined by fellow members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, including Councilors Alexandra Judith P. Meily, Dennis Tan, Erasmo Bayron, Bienvenido T. Diniay and Ruel Nadela.

A wide range of stakeholders participated in the hearing, particularly tricycle drivers and operators, who presented their views regarding the proposed fare adjustment. Also represented were the City Administrator's Ofdice, Dapitan City Traffic Aide Unit (DCTAU), Persons with Disabilities (PWD) sector, Office for Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA), Philippine National Police (PNP), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), City Livelihood Office, City Licensing Office, and City Legal Office.

Representatives from the education sector, including students from Dapitan City High School and Jose Rizal Memorial State University (JRMSU), also attended to witness and take part in discussions on the local policy.

The open discussion provided a transparent venue to balance the needs of both sides. Tricycle drivers and operators emphasized that the fare adjustment is necessary due to persistently high fuel prices, which directly impact their daily operating expenses. Concurrently, regular commuters and sectoral representatives highlighted the financial impact this added cost would have on daily passengers, particularly students, senior citizens, PWDs, and workers.

Alongside the fare discussions, local officials strongly urged and reminded tricycle drivers to strictly refrain from smoking while operating their units, especially when transporting passengers, to ensure public health and comfort.

The firsthand information and recommendations gathered during the hearing will be thoroughly reviewed in the succeeding deliberations of the Sangguniang Panlungsod before any final action is taken on the proposed rate.

This public consultation reflects the City Government of Dapitan’s commitment to inclusive governance and transparency. By encouraging open dialogue, the city ensures that the final transportation policy will effectively balance the welfare of both transport operators and the riding public.

Pinaagi sa maong konsultasyon, gihatagan og higayon ang nagkadaiyang sektor nga mapadayag ang ilang baruganan, alang sa usa ka makiangayon, transparent, ug responsive nga polisiya sa transportasyon alang sa mga Dapitanon.
