𝗕𝗟𝗘𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗢𝗙 𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗚𝗔𝗥𝗕𝗔𝗚𝗘 𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗖𝗞𝗦 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧 𝗘𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗣𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧

The Municipality of Dapa held the blessing of two (2) new garbage trucks acquired by the Local Government Unit of Dapa, along with one (1) Mobile Kitchen and one (1) Water Tanker from the Provincial Government of Surigao del Norte.

The ceremonial blessing was officiated by Rev. Fr. Mark Junelles P. Tiu, DCS, Parochial Vicar, and attended by Municipal Mayor Elizabeth T. Matugas, members of the Sangguniang Bayan, and the LGU Dapa Family.

The newly acquired garbage trucks will help strengthen the Municipality’s garbage collection and solid waste management operations, while the Mobile Kitchen and Water Tanker will provide additional support during emergencies, disaster response, and relief operations.

These additions will help the LGU respond better to the needs of our communities and continue delivering reliable services to every DapanON.

The Local Government Unit of Dapa held its monthly Holy Mass this morning at 9:00 AM, attended by LGU officials and employees. The Mass provided an opportunity for everyone to come together in prayer, thanksgiving, and reflection.

The Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Mark Junelles P. Tiu, DCS, Parochial Vicar.

The excitement of competition filled the Siargao Sports Complex this afternoon, September 3, as Mayor Elizabeth T. Matugas joined athletes, coaches, teachers, and delegates for the Opening Ceremony of the Siargao Division Athletic Meet (SDAM) 2026 in Dapa.

This year, the Municipality of Dapa is honored to serve as the host municipality of SDAM 2026, welcoming student-athletes and their coaches, teachers, and supporters from across the Siargao Division.

The Mayor was joined by Vice Mayor Gerry M. Abejo, members of the Sangguniang Bayan, and Municipal Department Heads in welcoming the participants and expressing the municipality’s full support for this celebration of sports and youth.

Warm congratulations to the Siargao Schools Division, led by Schools Division Superintendent Manuel O. Caberte, together with Assistant Schools Division Superintendent Roel T. Diamante, for bringing together our young athletes in an event that celebrates not only athletic excellence but also discipline, teamwork, friendship, and sportsmanship.

To our teachers and coaches, thank you for guiding and inspiring our student-athletes. To the parents, thank you for your unwavering support. And to all our young athletes, give your best, play with heart, and compete with pride.

The Local Government Unit of Dapa reminds the public to take necessary precautions as haze may affect air quality and may cause health concerns, particularly among children, older adults, and individuals with respiratory conditions.

AIR QUALITY UPDATE

Based on the latest air quality monitoring information from the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Caraga, the PM10 reading recorded at the Doongan, Butuan City ENRO Station on September 3, 2026 was 73, classified as "𝗙𝗔𝗜𝗥."

While the reported air quality level remains within an acceptable range, the public is encouraged to remain cautious and limit prolonged exposure to haze, especially among individuals who may be more sensitive to changes in air quality.

PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES:
• Stay indoors when haze becomes noticeable and keep windows and doors closed.
• Wear a face mask when going outdoors, especially during prolonged exposure.
• Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
• Avoid strenuous or prolonged outdoor activities.
• Use an air purifier, if available, to help improve indoor air quality.
• Stay updated through official advisories and announcements from concerned government agencies.

Mayor Elizabeth “Abeth” T. Matugas warmly welcomed DepEd Siargao officials, led by Schools Division Superintendent Manuel O. Caberte, during their courtesy visit at the Mayor’s Office, New Municipal Hall, at 11:30 AM today, September 1, 2026.

The courtesy visit centered on the upcoming 2026 Siargao Division Athletic Meet (SDAM), which will officially begin on September 3, 2026, at 3:00 PM at the Siargao Island Sports Complex.

As part of the visit, SDS Caberte presented Mayor Abeth with a Plaque of Recognition, honoring her invaluable support, steadfast partnership, and generous contributions to the successful conduct of the 66th Palarong Pambansa held earlier this year.

The Local Government Unit of Dapa joins DepEd Siargao in welcoming our athletes, coaches, and officials. May this year’s athletic meet be another celebration of talent, friendship, and sportsmanship.
