The 48th National Disability Rights Week Celebration in Dagupan City officially commenced on July 17 and will run until July 23, 2026. In support of this year's celebration, the Dagupan City PWD Federation Officers and members, together with the 31 Barangay PWD Presidents, proudly displayed the National Disability Rights Week tarpaulins in their respective barangays and conducted community clean-up drives to promote environmental responsibility, unity, and inclusivity.
Another meaningful day of unity, empowerment, and inclusion was celebrated during the Dagupan City Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Day held on July 6, 2026, under the leadership of Hon. Mayor Belen T. Fernandez.
The City Government of Dagupan reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to promoting the rights, welfare, and meaningful participation of persons with disabilities. Through the dedicated efforts of the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) Dagupan City, in collaboration with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), partner government agencies, private organizations, volunteers, and the PWD community, the celebration became a testament to what can be achieved through collaboration, compassion, and inclusive leadership.
The event featured a wide range of free services and activities, including medical and dental check-ups; wellness services in partnership with AVRC-I; eye and hearing screenings; free psychiatric assessments; assistive device support; advocacy programs; Unified PWD ID registration; renewal, replacement, and new PWD ID applications; YAKAP registration; Occupational Therapy (OT) assessments; and recreational activities that showcased the talents, abilities, and contributions of persons with disabilities.
More than just a celebration, the event served as a powerful reminder that every individual deserves equal opportunities, respect, accessibility, and full participation in society.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our partners, volunteers, government agencies, private organizations, the Dagupan City PWD Federation officers and members, families, and everyone who contributed to the success of this celebration. Your dedication and support continue to inspire us as we work together toward a more inclusive and accessible Dagupan City.
Together, let us continue to champion the rights of persons with disabilities and build a community where no one is left behind.
