The 48th National Disability Rights Week Celebration in Dagupan City officially commenced on July 17 and will run until July 23, 2026. In support of this year's celebration, the Dagupan City PWD Federation Officers and members, together with the 31 Barangay PWD Presidents, proudly displayed the National Disability Rights Week tarpaulins in their respective barangays and conducted community clean-up drives to promote environmental responsibility, unity, and inclusivity.

Another meaningful day of unity, empowerment, and inclusion was celebrated during the Dagupan City Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Day held on July 6, 2026, under the leadership of Hon. Mayor Belen T. Fernandez.

The City Government of Dagupan reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to promoting the rights, welfare, and meaningful participation of persons with disabilities. Through the dedicated efforts of the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) Dagupan City, in collaboration with the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), partner government agencies, private organizations, volunteers, and the PWD community, the celebration became a testament to what can be achieved through collaboration, compassion, and inclusive leadership.

The event featured a wide range of free services and activities, including medical and dental check-ups; wellness services in partnership with AVRC-I; eye and hearing screenings; free psychiatric assessments; assistive device support; advocacy programs; Unified PWD ID registration; renewal, replacement, and new PWD ID applications; YAKAP registration; Occupational Therapy (OT) assessments; and recreational activities that showcased the talents, abilities, and contributions of persons with disabilities.

More than just a celebration, the event served as a powerful reminder that every individual deserves equal opportunities, respect, accessibility, and full participation in society.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all our partners, volunteers, government agencies, private organizations, the Dagupan City PWD Federation officers and members, families, and everyone who contributed to the success of this celebration. Your dedication and support continue to inspire us as we work together toward a more inclusive and accessible Dagupan City.

Together, let us continue to champion the rights of persons with disabilities and build a community where no one is left behind.

Innovation for Inclusion: Building Inclusive Communities Together.

Conduct of Free Eye Check-Up and eye glasses for Children with Disabilities

A Free Eye Check-Up for Children with Disabilities was conducted on July 6, 2026 as part of the Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Day activities in Dagupan. Also, in line with the 48th National Disability Rights Week Celebration. The initiative aimed to promote early detection of vision problems, facilitate timely referral for appropriate eye care services, and support the overall health and well-being of children with disabilities.

This activity was made possible through the partnership of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Dagupan City and Siapno-Tada Optical, whose collaboration helped ensure that participating children received quality and accessible eye screening services.

Conduct of home visit is an essential social work intervention for the social worker to understand the client's situation within their actual living environment. It provides information that may not be fully captured through office interviews alone and supports more accurate assessment and intervention. This is in partnership with the Area Vocational and Rehabilitation Center together with STAC PDAO social worker and physical therapist
