Welcome to the UCN College of Education Library!

On behalf of our College Librarian, Ma’am Irene M. Arevalo, we warmly welcome all incoming first-year students, higher-year students, and transferees for School Year 2026–2027!

Earlier today, July 28, 2026, the College Library participated in ORSEM 2026: Setting Foundations, Scaling New Heights, following an official invitation from the UCN - COED Office of the Student Services and Development to deliver a presentation on library services.

Facilitated by our Library Assistant, Mr. Delmar Dongon, the session introduced our new students to the library's facilities, book collections, computer stations, borrowing procedures, reference support, and rules on proper library use.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the UCN - COED Office of the Student Services and Development for inviting us to be part of this event, and to all the students who actively participated today!

The UCN College of Education Library is the proud venue for the ongoing Chess and Scrabble Competitions, held as part of the Basic Education Intramurals. The library is pleased to open its doors and provide a conducive space for students to showcase their intellectual abilities, strategic thinking, and sportsmanship.

As the participants demonstrate their critical thinking in Chess and word mastery in Scrabble, the UCN CoEd Library extends its full support to the Basic Education Department's event.

Best of luck to all the competitors in the remaining rounds! May you continue to strive for excellence, uphold sportsmanship, and enjoy this rewarding experience.

UCN College Library Transforms Into Emergency Training Hub for 2-Day Lifesaving Seminar

DAET, CAMARINES NORTE — The quiet study spaces of the University of Camarines Norte (UCN) College of Education Library temporarily transformed into a dynamic training ground as it successfully hosted a two-day Gender-Inclusive Occupational First Aid and Basic Life Support (BLS) with AED Training.

The intensive event, which took place from July 1 to July 2, 2026, was organized in close coordination with the Philippine Red Cross Emergency Responders – Camarines Norte Chapter. Moving the seminar directly into the College Library allowed faculty, non-teaching staff, and selected students to master critical, life-saving interventions within a familiar academic hub.

A Library Converted for Hands-On Rescue Simulations

Throughout the two-day workshop, bookshelves and reading tables served as the backdrop for rigorous, hands-on emergency simulations. Guided by expert medical responders from the Philippine Red Cross, participants utilized the library floor to practice vital life-saving skills, including:

Emergency Scene Assessment: Systematically checking surrounding areas to ensure absolute safety before approaching a casualty.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR): Mastering chest compression depth and rhythm on adult and infant training manikins.

Choking Management: Learning airway clearance protocols for sudden choking incidents.

Patient Recovery Positioning: Maneuvering unconscious but breathing individuals into safe physical alignments.

AED Utilization: Learning how to rapidly deploy and safely operate an Automated External Defibrillator during sudden cardiac arrest.

VOLANTE, EdD, Vice President for Academic Affairs, 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 are hereby reminded to observe the following guidelines in preparation for the 𝟑𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬 to be held on 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟐𝟔, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 (𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰) to ensure the safe, orderly, and successful conduct of the graduation ceremony:

✅ Eat a proper meal before reporting to the venue.
✅ Bring an umbrella for protection from extreme heat or unexpected rain.
✅ Bring a reusable tumbler instead of bottled water to support the University's environmental sustainability initiatives.
✅ Garbage In, Garbage Out. Practice proper waste disposal and help maintain the cleanliness, orderliness, and environmental responsibility of the University.
✅ Bring a portable handheld electric fan, if available.
✅ Arrive at the designated assembly area on time and follow the instructions of the marshals and ushers.
✅ Wear your complete prescribed graduation attire, including your Balatik, and ensure they are properly worn before the assembly.
✅ Bring only essential personal belongings and keep your valuables secure at all times.
✅ Observe proper decorum throughout the ceremony.
✅ Stay hydrated and immediately inform the nearest marshal, usher, or medical personnel if you experience any discomfort.
✅ During the graduation procession and the 34th Commencement Exercises, graduates are strictly prohibited from wearing corsages, flower garlands (leis), money bill garlands, or any similar decorative accessories. Only officially awarded academic medals, University-issued pins, and other authorized academic insignia shall be worn.

Your cooperation and strict compliance with these reminders are highly appreciated as we celebrate this important milestone with dignity, order, and excellence.

𝐕𝐎𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐄, 𝐄𝐝𝐃, Vice President for Academic Affairs, all UCN students, employees, visitors, and other stakeholders are hereby reminded of the continued implementation of safety and security measures in all University campuses.

In view of the increasing incidents of stabbing, shooting, and other security-related threats reported in various educational institutions nationwide, the University hereby reiterates the strict implementation of OSSD Memorandum No. 11, s. 2026 on the observance of safety and security measures in all University campuses.

The safety and security of students, employees, visitors, and other stakeholders remain a top priority of the University. Although we hope that such incidents will never occur within our institution, it is our collective responsibility to remain vigilant and proactive by consistently implementing preventive security measures to protect the entire University community.

Accordingly, mandatory bag inspections shall continue to be conducted by authorized security personnel at all campus entry points. In addition, all vehicles, including motorcycles, tricycles, private vehicles, service vehicles, and other conveyances entering the University premises, shall likewise be subject to inspection whenever necessary, in accordance with established University safety and security protocols.

All students, employees, visitors, and other stakeholders are requested to fully cooperate with the inspection procedures and to allot sufficient time before entering the campus to avoid unnecessary delays.

The University likewise appeals to everyone for their patience, understanding, and cooperation during the inspection process. While these security measures may require additional time, they are implemented solely to ensure the safety, security, and protection of every member of the University community. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated as we work together to maintain a safe, secure, and conducive learning and working environment.

The following items are STRICTLY PROHIBITED inside the University premises:

🚫 Deadly Weapons
• Fi****ms, air guns, replica fi****ms, and ammunition
• Knives, balisongs, ice picks, and other bladed instruments
• Brass knuckles, blunt objects, and other improvised weapons
• Explosives, firecrackers, pyrotechnics, and other explosive materials
• Sharp-pointed objects not intended for academic, laboratory, or official University purposes

🚫 Hazardous and Prohibited Items
• Flammable chemicals or combustible substances
• Toxic or hazardous materials
• Ci******es, electronic ci******es (vapes), and similar smoking devices
• Any other item that may endanger the safety and security of the University community

Any individual found in possession of the abovementioned prohibited items shall be dealt with in accordance with the provisions of the Student Handbook, existing University policies, and applicable safety and security protocols.

Let us all remain vigilant and continue to uphold a culture of safety, discipline, and shared responsibility in keeping our University a secure environment for everyone.

✨ A Day of Stories, Sanctuaries, and Inspiration ✨

I had the absolute privilege of attending the recent episode of “Shhhh... We’re Recording,” hosted by the Camarines Norte Provincial Library, featuring none other than the esteemed National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts, Sir Ricky Lee.

Maraming salamat po,Ma’am Dindi Camino Tuazon for the kind invitation and for giving us the opportunity to witness such a remarkable program. Congratulations to the entire team at the Camarines Norte Provincial Library for a highly successful and inspiring event! Your dedication to bringing impactful literary and cultural activities to our community is truly commendable. May there be many more programs that celebrate the power of stories, books, and lifelong learning.

It was also a pleasure to share this inspiring space with fellow advocates of culture and education, including Sir Felomino Vicente Fernandez, a dedicated faculty member of the College of Education and the revered "Father of the Hayag Festival," in attendance added so much value to the gathering. It was equally rewarding to catch up with our former student Sir Andrei Joseph Orbillo Ramos, who was also present at the even--it is always a profound moment to see our students continuing to engage with meaningful cultural programs!
