Today marks a meaningful milestone for the Queen Pineapple Research and Development Institute (QPRDI) as we celebrated the soft launching of the QP Coffee Table Book and the terminal reporting of the QP NICER and Visiting Scientist Program.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Zaiton Sapak, Visiting Scientist, for generously sharing her expertise and valuable insights that will greatly strengthen the direction of our research initiatives. Our sincere thanks as well to the representatives from DA, DOST, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, LGU-Basud, LGU-Labo, and all partner agencies and stakeholders for their active participation and collaborative spirit.

In line with Dr. Renato Solidumโ€™s messageโ€”โ€œAgham na Ramdamโ€โ€”this event highlights our commitment to producing tangible, meaningful, and community-centered outputs. The QP Coffee Table Book stands as a testament to the rich culture, industry potential, and ongoing efforts to uplift our Queen Pineapple farmers and local communities.

Together, we move forward with renewed passion and strengthened partnerships for a more innovative, collaborative, and inclusive Queen Pineapple industry. ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’›

๐Ÿ“ฃ Proud Moment for CNSC BSIT Students! ๐ŸŽ“๐ŸŒ

We are thrilled to share the outstanding achievement of our BSIT students from the College of Computing and Multimedia Studies, Camarines Norte State Collegeโ€”successfully publishing not just one, but two research papers in the internationally refereed Kafrelsheikh Journal of Information Sciences (ISSN: 2535-1478)!

๐Ÿง ๐Ÿ“Š Paper 1: "Dynamics of Rabies Spread Using Mathematical Modeling and Simulation"
Authored by Jonel Alonte, Precy Benalla, Evid Ros Andrae Jamito, Marc Arvel Salvador, Jomar Tolentino, and Reymar Villanueva, this study presents a NetLogo-based SEIR model that simulates rabies transmission in Camarines Norte. It highlights data-driven intervention strategies such as balanced vaccination and culling to control outbreaks.

๐Ÿ“ฆ๐Ÿ” Paper 2: "Simulating Supply Chain Dynamics at Camarines Norte Development Cooperatives"
Authored by Leam J Faith Arevalo, Patrizia Isabel Lopez, Jan Vincent Raymundo, Elton Devie Responde, and Angelo Villacruel, this research uses discrete-event simulation to optimize inventory control and demand satisfaction at Candevcoโ€”an agricultural cooperative in the Bicol Region.

๐Ÿ” These publications reflect the students' growing research capability in simulation, modeling, and optimization, and underscore the value of integrating real-world issues with innovative tech-based solutions.

๐Ÿ‘ Letโ€™s celebrate their dedication, innovation, and contribution to both local and global knowledge communities. This is a true testament that CNSC students can compete globally!

CNSC-CCMS Pride Soars Again! ๐Ÿ†

CNSC student-innovators from the College of Computing and Multimedia Studies (CCMS) have done it again! They've secured a back-to-back triumph at the National Innovation Day (NID) 2025 with their project Smart Road Sentinel!

This innovative drone, made from recycled materials, predicts and mitigates road maintenance issues in hard-to-reach areas. A huge congratulations to Mark Gabrielle B. Ong, Maria Angela Alison G. de Chavez, Paul Andrei D. Cafe, and Christian John D. Ibaรฑez and to their coaches Dr. Mary Grace Bolos, Dr. Daniel E. Maligat, Jr., and to Ms. Sharine A. Gutierrez for their incredible achievement! ๐Ÿ’ช

๐—–๐—ก๐—ฆ๐—– ๐—ฃ๐—ฅ๐—œ๐——๐—˜ | Camarines Norte State College (CNSC) student-innovators from the College of Computing and Multimedia Studies (CCMS) secured a back-to-back triumph at the National Innovation Day (NID) 2025 held on April 28, at Novotel Manila, Araneta City, Quezon City.

Under the Transportation and Logistics category, the CNSC teamโ€”Mark Gabrielle B. Ong (1 BSIT), Maria Angela Alison G. de Chavez (1 BSIT), Paul Andrei D. Cafe (3 BSIT), and Christian John D. Ibaรฑez (3 BSIT)โ€”clinched a win with their innovative project Smart Road Sentinel.

The SRS drone, produced from recycled materials, was a maintenance prediction and mitigation system that aimed to cover hard-to-reach areas, allowing LGUs and related units to switch from a reactive to a predictive system of road maintenance.

Led by their dedicated coachesโ€”Mary Grace B. Bolos, DIT, Sharine A. Gutierrez, MSIT, and Daniel E. Maligat, Jr., DITโ€”the group topped against 11 participating schools in the said category.

Their success defended the two-peat run of the CNSC-CCMS team under the same category in last year's NID HABI Workshop with their ground-breaking PowerGen, a multi-source power generator aimed at addressing environmental sustainability while supporting Filipino tricycle drivers, guided by Dr. Bolos and Gutierrez.

Featuring the HABI workshop under the theme โ€œFLIP: Forging Leaders of Innovation in the Philippines,โ€ NID 2025 celebrates the minds and prowess of students all over the Philippines in the sphere of innovation.

CCMS Mentoring Series 1: A Resounding Success!

The Output-Based Research Writing and Mentoring Series held on April 10โ€“11, 2025 at CCMS Laboratory 1 was a huge success! This two-day event, titled โ€œStrengthening Research Skills for Increased Productivity,โ€ was designed to empower our faculty in transforming their ideas into scholarly outputs.

We were honored to have as our distinguished resource speakers Dr. Lany L. Maceda, Vice President for Research and Extension at Bicol University, and Dr. Jennifer M. Llovido, also from BU, who provided in-depth insights on crafting impactful and publishable research. Their expertise inspired and energized our participants toward stronger research outputs and capabilities.

The event was spearheaded by our very own Dr. Daniel E. Maligat, Jr., Dean of the College of Computing and Multimedia Studies, and was highly participated in by CCMS faculty. It resulted in the generation of promising research papers and proposalsโ€”truly a step forward for the research landscape of the college.

We were also privileged to have Dr. Rosalie A. Almadrones, VP for Research and Extension of CNSC, who shared CNSCโ€™s research directions and future endeavors, offering guidance and strategic focus to all attendees.

This initiative not only strengthened our understanding of the research process but also opened up opportunities for publication and collaboration. A big congratulations to all participants and organizers for making this event a meaningful and productive experience!
