To the people of General Santos City:

Thank you to the 117,844 residents of this city who lent me their voices in the recently concluded election.

Despite my limited resources, I stood my ground and fought for our city, and you chose to believe in me. Your vote was a vote of love, trust, and confidence.

I may have lost in the count, but I knew in my heart that I would have won if it were an honest and clean election. Still, I believe I have won in life.

Anytime, anywhere, I can hold my head high because I finished the race with my honor, my dignity, my pride, and my self-respect intact. I knew I had shown the well-meaning people of our city that it always pays to do what is right and to do things rightly, because at the end of the day, goodness will prevail over evil.

We will continue the good fight, remain the vigilant soul and spirit of our city, and help build and secure Gensan's bright future—a future that belongs to everybody, not just a chosen few.

This election taught this old mother that General Santos City is still worth fighting for… Gensan is still worth dying for!

My Hardworking Mayor!

By: Floyd Dagum (former aide) It has been my life’s honor to have stood by the side of this great man for the past years.

Day in, day out; I have personally witnessed how steadfast and untiring he is when it comes to the daily grind and the challenges of running one of the best city in the country.

Phone in one hand, checking notes and notations on another, 30-minutes past lunch in between the fifth and sixth meeting of the day, with another three meetings more to go… I look in awe and silently said to myself, that is my hardworking Mayor.

About two hours before I took this picture, he was talking to an elderly man who was sitting on a bench during a pension distribution program in a nearby mall.
