TRUST IN ACTION: 17 BARANGAY CHAIRS LEAD SURRENDER OF 20 LOOSE FI****MS IN ANTIQUE
WESTERN VISAYAS โ Sustained community engagement by Police Regional Office 6 (PRO6) has translated public trust into concrete action, as 17 Punong Barangays in Valderrama, Antique helped facilitate the voluntary surrender of 20 loose fi****ms and six rounds of ammunition on August 14, 2026.
More than the number of fi****ms surrendered, the accomplishment reflects the growing trust and cooperation between the police and the communities they serve. The active involvement of 17 barangay leaders demonstrates how strengthened police-community relations can encourage citizens to become partners in addressing potential threats to peace and security.
The fi****ms were formally turned over at around 1:30 PM during the โIstoryahi Si PDโ activity at Villa Valderrama Mountain Resort, Brgy. Binanogan, Valderrama, Antique, as part of the continuing community engagement efforts of the Antique Police Provincial Office and Valderrama Municipal Police Station.
Through sustained coordination and community engagement by the Valderrama MPS, the 17 Punong Barangays encouraged residents in their respective communities to voluntarily surrender fi****ms in their possession, in support of Project R.T.T. (Restrict, Track, and Turn-in), PRO6โs continuing initiative to encourage the voluntary surrender of loose and unauthorized fi****ms.
Turned over were eight homemade long-barreled bolt-action shotguns, ten caliber .38 revolvers, and two caliber .22 Magnum fi****ms, together with six rounds of ammunition.
PRO6 Regional Director Police Brigadier General Randulf T. Tuaรฑo said the accomplishment demonstrates that effective policing becomes stronger when communities themselves take an active role in keeping their neighborhoods safe.
โTwenty fi****ms were taken out of our communities without confrontation and through the cooperation of our people. To us, that speaks not only of crime prevention, but of trust. When communities voluntarily work with their police to remove potential threats, it tells us that the partnership we are building is working,โ PBGen Tuaรฑo said.
โEvery firearm surrendered is one less potential instrument of violence, but every citizen who chooses to cooperate represents something equally importantโthe confidence of our communities in their police. That trust allows us to prevent crime even before enforcement becomes necessary,โ he added.
The surrendered fi****ms and ammunition are temporarily under the custody of Valderrama MPS and will be turned over to the Antique PPO for proper disposition.
The accomplishment demonstrates The PRO6 Way in actionโturning community trust into concrete public-safety results by empowering communities to become active partners in preventing crime and keeping loose fi****ms off the streets.
PRO6 will continue strengthening this partnership under its commitment to โResponsive, Trusted, and Transformative Policing for a Safer Western Visayas,โ in support of the PNP Focused Agenda and the vision of โBagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdamanโ under the leadership of PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr.
