๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒฟ IN CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL DISASTER RISK REDUCTION DAY 2026 ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒฑ

In observance of International Disaster Risk Reduction Day, the Local Government Unit of Culaba conducted a Mangrove Planting Activity in Barangay Virginia, Culaba, Biliran, in collaboration with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), and Municipal Cooperative Development Office (MCDO).

This initiative highlights the importance of environmental protection and ecosystem restoration in strengthening community resilience against disasters. Mangroves serve as natural barriers against coastal erosion, storm surges, and other coastal hazards while providing a vital habitat for marine life.

Through this collaborative effort, we reaffirm our commitment to promoting disaster risk reduction, environmental sustainability, and a safer, more resilient community.

๐ŸŒฑ Resilience starts at Home! Together, let us protect our environment and build a disaster-resilient Culaba for present and future generations.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Culaba, through Mr. Ray-Jay L. Emboltorio, LDRRM Officer, shared his expertise, knowledge, and experiences in Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CBDRRM) Planning with the Local Government Unit of Caibiran, Biliran.

The activity focused on strengthening community participation in identifying, assessing, and addressing disaster risks, while enhancing local capacities in disaster preparedness, prevention and mitigation, response, and recovery.

This knowledge-sharing initiative highlights the importance of collaboration, partnership, and continuous learning among local government units in building safer, more resilient, and disaster-ready communities.

As provided under Republic Act No. 10121, CBDRRM emphasizes the active participation of communities in disaster risk reduction and management, placing them at the center of local efforts to identify risks, develop appropriate measures, and strengthen resilience.

Sharing knowledge. Strengthening partnerships. Building resilient communities.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our Municipal Mayor, Hon. Humphrey Olimba, for his continued support and for giving us the opportunity to share the best practices, knowledge, and expertise of MDRRMO Culaba with our fellow local government unit in Biliran.
