DAVAO CITY | Members of the interim Bangsamoro Parliament on Monday, June 1, began crafting a 10-year strategic framework to guide the institution beyond the transition period and support the first elected Bangsamoro Parliament.
The three-day Parliament Strategic Planning Framework Workshop, conducted with the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP), brings together lawmakers to identify long-term priorities for the Parliamentβs legislative, oversight, and representation functions.
Under the Bangsamoro Organic Law, the BTA serves as the interim government of the BARMM during the transition period and exercises the powers and functions of the Parliament until the election of regular members.
As BARMM prepares for its first parliamentary elections in September 2026, lawmakers said the strategic planning exercise will help strengthen governance systems and ensure that the incoming Parliament inherits clear institutional direction, established frameworks, and policy foundations.
Speaker Mohammad Yacob said the institution must continue to evolve in a way that reflects the aspirations of the Bangsamoro people while strengthening participatory governance, accountability, and public service.
In a message delivered by Chief of Staff Jamel Macacua, BARMM Chief Minister Abdulraof Macacua backed the Parliamentβs strategic direction, saying the regional government is committed to translating shared priorities into concrete policies and programs that deliver tangible results to communities across BARMM.
During the workshop, the Westminster Foundation for Democracy also turned over a parliamentary roadmap outlining measures to support institutional stability and continuity as the Bangsamoro Parliament moves toward its next phase of development.
The workshop runs until June 3. (LTAIS-Public Information, Publication, and Media Relations Division)
