COTABATO CITY โ The Bangsamoro Information and Communications Technology Office (BICTO) successfully Kicked-off the 5th Bangsamoro ICT Month 2026 held on June 1, 2026, at the OCM Quadrangle Flagpole, Bangsamoro Government Center, Cotabato City. Carrying the theme, โResilient. Connected. Digital: Building a Resilient and Inclusive Digital Region,โ the event formally commenced the month-long celebration of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Month across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
The program gathered officials and personnel from various Bangsamoro Government offices in support of BICTOโs continuing efforts to advance digital transformation, innovation, and inclusive connectivity in the region. In his Welcome and Opening Remarks, Executive Director Jonathan M. Mantikayan, Ph.D.IT, emphasized the significance of ICT in driving progress and strengthening governance in the Bangsamoro. He stated, โToday marks the beginning of a month-long celebration that recognizes the vital role of ICT in nation-building and regional development. Let us continue working together to build a digitally empowered, connected, and future-ready Bangsamoro.โ
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the presentation of the official schedule of activities for ICT Month 2026 by Mohajiren Diang, MSc.IT, Chief of the ICT Infrastructure and Services Division. Participants were introduced to various programs and initiatives scheduled throughout June, aimed at promoting digital literacy, innovation, cybersecurity awareness, and the adoption of digital technologies in both government and communities. To further engage attendees, an interactive Question-and-Answer portion was also conducted, where attendees from different BARMM Ministries, Offices, and attached Agencies(BMOAs) actively answered ICT-related questions. Winners received prizes, adding excitement and encouraging greater participation in the opening of ICT Month.
The successful conduct of the Kick-Off Ceremony signals the beginning of a meaningful month of learning, collaboration, and innovation as BICTO continues to champion digital empowerment across the Bangsamoro.
