Project TABANG distributes Qurbani ahead of Eid’l Adha celebration
COTABATO CITY — The Office of the Chief Minister Abdulraof “Sammy Gambar” A. Macacua, through the Project Management Office of Project TABANG, headed by Project Manager Brahim P. Lacua, spearheaded the simultaneous implementation of the Qurbani Program and meat distribution on Tuesday, 26 May 2026 / 9 Dhu’l-Hijjah 1447 AH.
On the first day of distribution, a total of 207 cattle or Qurbani animals were distributed to various communities across the Bangsamoro region, benefiting families and individuals from the provinces of Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Cotabato City, Special Geographic Areas (SGA), and other Bangsamoro communities outside the region’s core territory.
The distribution forms part of the Special Assistance for Special Occasion (SAFSO), an annual sub-program under Project TABANG’s Humanitarian Response and Services. Through this initiative, the Bangsamoro Government aims to provide Qurbani meat to communities and individuals during the observance of Eid’l Adha, as part of its continuing humanitarian efforts that promote compassion, solidarity, and meaningful public service among Bangsamoro communities.
The program runs from 26 to 27 May 2026 and seeks to extend assistance through the distribution of Qurbani meat and other humanitarian services to Bangsamoro families, particularly those in need during the celebration of Eid’l Adha.
Eid’l Adha, one of the two major celebrations observed in Islam, commemorates the spirit of sacrifice and obedience to Allah (SWT). It also marks the culmination of the Hajj pilgrimage rites in Minā, near Makkah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and is celebrated by Muslims worldwide beginning on the 10th day of Dhū al-Ḥijjah.
The observance of Eid’l Adha serves as a reminder of gratitude, generosity, and compassion, encouraging Muslims around the world to share their blessings and extend assistance to those who are less fortunate.
