Cotabato City โ Tribal leaders from Maguindanao del Norte and Maguindanao del Sur, led by Provincial Chieftain Arsenio Maningula, paid a courtesy visit to Bangsamoro Party (BAPA) President Muslimin โBapa Musโ G. Sema. The meeting, held in Cotabato City, highlighted the Indigenous Peoplesโ (IP) sectorโs commitment to meaningful dialogue and cooperation with the broader leadership of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
During the visit, the discussion underscored the importance of inclusive governance and the need for stronger representation and support for Indigenous Peoples within the regionโs evolving political landscape.
Bapa Mus Sema warmly welcomed the tribal leaders and shared a heartfelt reflection on his past collaboration with the Teduray community in Upi. He recounted how the Tedurays stood by him during the most challenging periods of the Moro struggle, offering both support and friendship. His acknowledgment of their role served as a testament to the deep-rooted connection between the Moro and Indigenous communities of Mindanao.
โAt the core of the BAPA platform is a deep respect for all Indigenous Peoples within the BARMM,โ Sema said. โWe believe that no community should be left behind, and every voice deserves to be heard.โ
He further emphasized that BAPAโs development agenda is grounded in the principles of inclusivity, equity, and accessibility. The party also aims to ensure that even the most remote and underserved areas in the region have access to reliable electricity, passable roads, and clean water.
โBawat sulok ng lugar sa BARMM ay kailangang may kalsada, may kuryente, at may tubig. That is our goal,โ Sema added.
The meeting ended on a hopeful note, with both the IP leaders and BAPA leadership reaffirming their commitment to building a just, inclusive, and sustainable future for all communities in the Bangsamoro.
