On March 10, 2026, the Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission (BHRC) โ Special Geographic Area (SGA) and Cotabato City Office conducted a Human Rights Education session on Childrenโs Rights for Rights Holders at Datu Daud Rahman High School in Pahamuddin, SGA BARMM.
The activity aimed to raise awareness among high school students about their fundamental rights as children, emphasizing the importance of protecting their dignity, welfare, and development. Through this session, students were introduced to key concepts of human rights and were encouraged to recognize their role as rights holders who deserve protection, respect, and equal opportunities.
The lecture was delivered by Atty. Faharodin M. Sulaiman, who discussed childrenโs rights under international human rights instruments and relevant national laws that safeguard the protection and well-being of children. The discussion highlighted the importance of promoting safe environments for children, protecting them from abuse and exploitation, and ensuring that their voices are heard in matters affecting their lives.
Students actively participated in the discussion, reflecting the growing interest of young people in understanding their rights and responsibilities within their communities.
This initiative was made possible through the coordination and support of the Local Government Unit of Municipality of Pahamuddin, SGA, under the leadership of Honorable Mayor Yasser Ebrahim. The partnership between BHRC and the local government continues to strengthen efforts in promoting human rights awareness and empowering young rights holders in the community.
Through activities such as this, the BHRC reaffirms its commitment to promoting human rights education and fostering a culture that respects, protects, and upholds the rights of every child.
