The Bangsamoro Parliament, presided over by Nabil A. Tan, concluded its plenary sessions from May 18 to 21, 2026, with deliberations and legislative actions centered on the proposed supplemental budget and the renaming of the Municipality of Datu Blah T. Sinsuat, alongside measures relating to governance, public service, social protection, and regional development.
The sessions were highlighted by the approval of two BTA Parliament Bills, including Parliament Bill No. 470, “An Act Appropriating Supplemental Funds for the Operation of the Bangsamoro Government and for Other Purposes,” and Parliament Bill No. 328, “An Act Renaming the Municipality of Datu Blah T. Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte, to the Municipality of West Upi, Maguindanao del Norte.”
The plenary sessions likewise featured the discussion of 10 BTA Parliament Bills on first reading and 10 BTA Parliament Bills on second reading, covering measures on healthcare, education, child welfare, peacebuilding, governance reforms, and social services.
Among the measures acted upon was the approval on second reading of the consolidated BTA Parliament Bill Nos. 282 and 276, or the proposed Pilgrimage Leave Act of 2025, which seeks to institutionalize a one-time leave privilege for qualified government employees undertaking pilgrimage, subject to existing rules and approval processes.
Among the resolutions adopted by the Parliament was a resolution expressing full support for the decision of Chief Minister Abdulraof A. Macacua to effect changes in the leadership of the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), reaffirming the principles of moral governance, supporting the fight against corruption within the education sector, and urging immediate and comprehensive reforms to address the education crisis in the Bangsamoro region.
The next plenary deliberations are scheduled for the second week of June 2026.
