With a heartfelt call for unity and action, Teche Sitoy Cho, chairperson of the Philippine Red Cross Lapu-Lapu/Cordova Chapter, is inviting the publicโmost especially the proud Cordovanhonsโto take part in a race that goes beyond competition and becomes a mission to save lives.
โDili lang kini lumbaโkini usa ka panaw sa pagtinabangay,โ Sitoy-Cho emphasized, calling on residents of Cordova to stand together and show the strength of a community that cares. She underscored that every step taken and every finish line crossed contributes directly to humanitarian efforts that serve their own people in times of need.
With a strong message of service and solidarity, Sitoy-Cho expressed full support to the lead organizers and reinforced the push for the โSplash and Stride for Humanityโ Aquathlon and 5K Heritage Runโan initiative that brings together fitness, community engagement, and compassion as part of the upcoming Kadaugan sa Mactan celebration.
The event, which held its soft launch on March 31, 2026, sets the stage for a high-energy and purpose-driven gathering of athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and everyday individuals who want to make a difference through movement.
Leading the initiative are Fund Generation Committee members Maita Manglapus and Nelson Lumapac, alongside the chapterโs Board of Directors, working hand in hand to transform the race into a platform that promotes health and wellness while strengthening support for Red Cross humanitarian programs.
Set on April 19, 2026, the event will take place at the scenic Mactan Newtown and Mactan Newtown Beach, in partnership with Megaworld Corporation and Salt + Finโfurther elevating Mactan as a destination for sports tourism and community events.
More than just a race, the aquathlon serves as a vital fundraising initiative aimed at supporting emergency response operations and humanitarian services across Lapu-Lapu and Cordova. It also reinforces the importance of an active lifestyle, encouraging the community to move with purpose.
Participants can choose from a variety of race categories designed for all ages and fitness levels, from youth swim-and-run events to the more demanding adult aquathlon and the 5K Heritage Run for those who prefer to stay on land.
Registration fees are set at โฑ2,500 for the kidsโ division, โฑ3,000 for adults, and โฑ1,000 for the 5K run, with race kits that include medals, event shirts or singlets, timing chips, and mealsโensuring a meaningful and memorable race experience.
As anticipation builds, the Splash and Stride for Humanity Aquathlon stands as more than just a sporting eventโit is a call to action. For Cordovanhons, it is an opportunity to come together, to move as one community, and to prove that in every stride and every stroke, there is compassion, courage, and the power to make a difference.
