With the theme โBridging the Gap, Empowering the Future,โ the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Poblacion collaborated with the Indigenous Peoples (IP) community for the IP Youth Celebration held today, May 22, at the Barangay Poblacion PIO Building.
The activity aimed to preserve cultural heritage and strengthen understanding between communities by gathering IP youth and community members in a meaningful celebration of culture, unity, and youth empowerment.
Among the highlighted activities were the Beadwork Competition and the Tribal Food โLotlotโ Competition which were facilitated and trained by Marilou S. Silat and Magsalina S. Garban, who guided participants in the traditional techniques and cultural significance of beadwork.
Joy B. Abugan served as the guest speaker during the activity, emphasizing the importance of preserving Indigenous culture not only through beadwork and traditional food practices, but also through the protection and continuous use of the IP communityโs language.
The first day of the celebration focused on cultural discussions, competitions, and community participation, while Day 2 will feature the awarding ceremony for the winners of the Beadwork Competition and Tribal Food โLotlotโ Competition.
Through initiatives like the IP Youth Celebration, SK Poblacion continues to support programs that promote inclusivity, cultural awareness, and stronger community relationships among the youth.
