The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Vigan convened its 59th Regular Session on August 24, 2026, at the SP Session Hall. The session was presided over by Vice Mayor Atty. Glendale Benzon, with the majority of the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod in attendance.

During the session, the City Council approved a total of four (4) legislative measures, consisting of three (3) Resolutions and one Ordinance.

The approved measures reflect the City Councilโ€™s continuing support for public transportation services, excellence in education and the performing arts, outstanding leadership, and the achievements of Viganโ€™s young athletes in regional and national competitions. ๐Ÿ’™

Batang Pinoy 2026: Championing youth development and grassroots sports

Liga ng mga Barangay Vice President SPM Enrico Shawn Patrick Singson, a passionate young and athletic leader joined forces with Committee Chairperson SPM Carl Louie Alquetra and the Committee on Youth and Sports on August 13, 2026, at the Sangguniang Panlungsod Session Hall.

As a active advocate for the youth, SPM Patrick Singson brought his athletic energy and strategic insights to the table as the body laid down vital preparation plans and groundwork for the highly anticipated Batang Pinoy 2026.

Also shaping the future of local sports were committee members SPM Joy Benette Orio, SPM Nestor Pajaro, and SPM Karen Baquiran, alongside Local Youth Development Officer Arvin Senica, Youth Development and Sports Officer Rosito Emil Europa, and key sports stakeholders.

Special Session: Vigan City Council Approves โ‚ฑ14.1M Fund Realignment for Mindoro Seawall Extension

โ€”-
The Ninth Vigan City Council convened a Special Session on August 13, 2026, to pass urgent measures aimed at coastal protection. Chaired by Acting Vice Mayor SPM Kisses Marquisse Agdamag-Lim, the Sangguniang Panlungsod approved the adoption of Supplemental Investment Plan No. 04, Series of 2026.

The measure realigns โ‚ฑ14,181,708.65 from the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund Investment Plan (LDRRMFIP) to finance the construction of a seawall extension along the coastline of Barangay Mindoro.

Pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 128 issued by the Office of the President, directing government offices in the Province of Ilocos Sur to implement appropriate alternative work arrangements on 18 August 2026, and consistent with applicable Civil Service Commission rules and regulations, the provincial government shall adopt a Work-from-Home (WFH) arrangement on the said date.

Offices involved in the delivery of basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, emergency and public safety services, and other vital government operations shall remain open to serve the public.

Upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), and in view of the Heavy Rainfall Warnings issued by PAGASA relative to the continuous heavy rainfall associated with the Southwest Monsoon, government offices in the National Capital Region and the provinces of Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas, Rizal, Laguna, and Occidental Mindoro are directed to implement appropriate alternative work arrangements on 18 August 2026.

Agencies delivering basic and health services, disaster preparedness/response, and other vital services shall continue their operations and render the necessary services. Alternative learning modes shall be implemented for classes at all levels in public and private schools in the aforementioned areas.

The suspension of work or adoption of alternative work arrangements in the private sector shall be left to the discretion of management.

The Sangguniang Panlungsod of Vigan convened its 57th Regular Session on August 12, 2026, at the SP Session Hall. The session was presided over SPM Kisses Marquisse Agdamag-Lim, serving as Acting Vice Mayor, with the majority of the members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod in attendance.

During the session, the City Council approved a total of six (6) legislative measures, consisting of two (2) ordinances and four (4) resolutions.

The approval of these measures reflects the City Councilโ€™s continuing commitment to strengthening the Cityโ€™s financial management, public transportation services, investment programs, disaster preparedness, and healthcare services. Through these legislative actions, the Sangguniang Panlungsod continues to support programs and initiatives that promote effective governance, responsive public service, and the overall welfare of the people of Vigan.๐Ÿ’™
