The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office VII (CHED RO VII) facilitated a Regional Awareness and Orientation on the Expanded Tertiary Education Equivalency and Accreditation Program (ETEEAP) and Micro-Credentialing Pathways for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Region VII, alongside a Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) Orientation/Reorientation, on August 27, 2026, at Bai Hotel, Mandaue City.
Anchored on the ACHIEVE Agenda, particularly Advanced and Accessible Lifelong Learning, the whole-day activity aimed to strengthen the capacity of higher education stakeholders by promoting flexible and innovative learning pathways while reinforcing quality assurance mechanisms in higher education.
The morning session focused on raising awareness and deepening the understanding of HEIs on ETEEAP and Micro-Credentialing Pathways as mechanisms that support flexible and lifelong learning.
The program was formally opened by Dr. Filomena T. Dayagbil, CHED Regional Office VII Director, who highlighted the importance of providing accessible and responsive educational opportunities that recognize the diverse learning experiences, competencies, and needs of individuals.
Dr. Alexander Franco A. Delantar served as the resource speaker for the morning session, providing discussions on ETEEAP and Micro-Credentialing Pathways. The session emphasized the value of recognizing prior learning, competencies, and professional experiences, while opening pathways for individuals to pursue further education, upskilling, reskilling, and professional advancement.
The orientation underscored CHED RO VIIโs continuing efforts to encourage HEIs to explore and strengthen flexible learning pathways that contribute to a more inclusive and responsive higher education system.
In the afternoon, the activity proceeded with the Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) Orientation/Reorientation, which focused on strengthening the knowledge and readiness of RQAT members in carrying out their roles and responsibilities in the assessment and evaluation of higher education programs and institutions.
The afternoon session featured Dr. Johnny J. Yao Jr., Supervising Education Program Specialist, and Dr. Jogi S. Rivamonte, Education Supervisor II, as speakers. They provided guidance and shared their expertise on matters relevant to the functions of the RQAT, contributing to the alignment and enhancement of assessment practices toward quality assurance and continuous improvement.
Present during the activity were Dr. Carlyn M. Dela Peรฑa, Chief Education Program Specialist; Mr. Eldimario Antiquina Jr., Supervising Administrative Officer; Education Supervisors Mr. Monshyne Cabual, Dr. Leonardo R. Tanael Jr., Dr. Sotera Cagang, Dr. Jogi S. Rivamonte, Ms. Rosary Tacogdoy, Ms. Elna Sabornido, and Dr. Jameson T. Lim; and Education Program Specialist Ms. Xyraine Mae S. Maglasang, Ms. Ma. Andrea A. Oroc -PTS III, Mr. Jesfrancis Acedillo - PYS III and Mr. Meljhon Marapao - PTS II.
The whole-day activity highlighted CHED RO VIIโs two-fold commitment to expanding access to lifelong learning opportunities and strengthening quality assurance in higher education. By promoting innovative pathways such as ETEEAP and micro-credentialing while continuously developing the capacity of its quality assessment teams, CHED RO VII reinforces its commitment to a higher education system that is accessible, relevant, inclusive, and quality-driven.
Through initiatives such as this, CHED RO VII continues to advance the ACHIEVE Agenda, particularly Advanced and Accessible Lifelong Learning, empowering learners and professionals to continuously learn, adapt, and thrive in an evolving educational and professional landscape.
