The Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor - PCUP Visayas in partnership with the IBP Cebu Chapter - Integrated Bar of the Philippines, is holding again its Libreng Serbisyo Legal Para sa Katawhan — providing free legal services for the urban poor here at the WDC Building, Osmeña Blvd., Cebu City!

This flagship program is formulated and spearheaded by Commissioner Atty. Bret Monsanto, Commissioner for the Visayas, under the leadership of Chairman and CEO Usec. Michelle Anne "Che-Che" B. Gonzales and PCUP FOD Visayas Chief of Operations Chloe T. Manlosa-Osano together with IBP Cebu Chapter headed by Atty. Edmar D. Lerios (President), Atty. Mary Louise B. Dagatan (Vice President), and Atty. Aimele Rose Miano (Chairman for Legal Aid Program).

After more than 30 years of waiting, 𝟱𝟭𝟳 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗝𝘂𝗮𝗻 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗲𝘃𝗮-𝗦𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗜𝗹𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗼 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 are now one step closer to owning the homes they have long dreamed of.

Commissioner Atty. Bret Monsanto joined PCUP Chairperson Usec. Michelle Anne "Che-Che" B. Gonzales, Iloilo City Mayor Raisa Treñas-Chu, DHSUD Region VI, the Iloilo City Local Housing Office, and other key stakeholders during the Contract to Sell Signing Event for the beneficiary families.

The milestone reflects the strength of the Whole-of-Nation Approach—where national agencies, local government units, and community partners work together to provide security of tenure and a better future for urban poor families.

Commissioner Atty. Bret Monsanto joined PCUP Chairperson Usec. Michelle Anne "Che-Che" B. Gonzales, FOD Visayas Chief Chloe Manlosa-Osano, and NYC Assistant Secretary ASec. Mae Mae Gonzales in a courtesy call with 𝗜𝗹𝗼𝗶𝗹𝗼 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝘆𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮 𝗟𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗲𝘀 𝗦. 𝗧𝗿𝗲ñ𝗮𝘀-𝗖𝗵𝘂 at the Iloilo City Government.

During the meeting, Mayor Treñas highlighted the city’s ongoing programs and initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of urban poor communities, particularly its housing projects that provide safe, secure, and decent homes for beneficiary families.

The courtesy call formed part of the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor (PCUP) participation in the Contract to Sell Signing Event for 517 Ilonggo families benefiting from the San Juan Villanueva-Sian Housing Site. PCUP was invited as a guest speaker and witness to this significant milestone, which marks the realization of the dream of homeownership for hundreds of families.

Commissioner Monsanto expressed his support for housing programs that promote security of tenure and improve the quality of life of urban poor families. He also emphasized the importance of strong collaboration between national and local government units in expanding access to housing and other essential services for underserved communities.

Together with PCUP Chairperson and CEO Usec. Michelle Anne "Che-Che" B. Gonzales, Commissioner Monsanto took part in discussions on key concerns affecting urban poor communities, including housing, livelihood, and community development.

The event was also attended by National Youth Commission (NYC), led by Assistant Secretary ASec. Mae Mae Gonzales , underscoring the importance of youth participation in nation-building and community development.

Representatives from various urban poor organizations and youth groups attended the activity, contributing insights and recommendations that will help shape future programs and initiatives in Iloilo City.
