In celebration of International Youth Day 2026, Cebuano youth, government and youth offices, advocates, artists, universities, civil society organizations, and community partners came together in a collective call for a Smoke-Free and V**e-Free Cebu.
The Cebu City Local Youth Development Council (CCLYDC), through its Chairperson for Health and Active Citizenship, joined the initiative alongside the Cebu City Youth Development Office (CCYDO), SK Federation โ Cebu City, Philippine Legislatorsโ Committee on Population and Development (PLCPD), University of the Philippines Cebu, Pitik Bulag, Philippine Smoke-Free Movement, Parents Against V**e, and other participating youth, artists, organizations, and partners.
Held on August 14, 2026, the celebration featured a Mural Unveiling and Solidarity Activity at Teofilo Hostel, organized with PLCPD, Pitik Bulag, and youth representatives, followed by a Film Screening, Talkback Session, and Art Fair at the University of the Philippines Cebu.
Through art, film, and meaningful conversations, young people were given a platform to express their perspectives on public health, youth and child rights, to***co and v**e prevention, and the right to clean air and safe, healthy environments.
The initiative also highlighted the proposed Smoke-Free and V**e-Free Environment Bill (House Bill No. 9603), filed by PLCPD Chairperson Rep. Krisel Lagman together with other legislators, which seeks to strengthen protection from exposure to to***co smoke and v**e emissions.
More than a celebration, the gathering demonstrated what can happen when **young people, government institutions, lawmakers, academe, civil society, artists, and advocates come together around a shared public health agenda.
The CCLYDC remains committed to strengthening meaningful youth participation in health advocacy and supporting collaborative initiatives that advance safer, healthier, and more youth-responsive communities across Cebu City.
