JUST IN: DTI Region 7 Acting Regional Director Esperanza Transfiguracion Melgar delivered a Comprehensive Report on the Shared Service Facilities (SSF) Community-based Biodiesel Plant for Farmers and Fisherfolks during the 2nd 2026 Regional Operations Group (ROG) Management Committee (MANCOM) Meeting on June 4, 2026.
The presentation highlighted an innovative and sustainable development model that empowers farming and fishing communities through renewable energy production, value-added processing, and livelihood generation. The initiative demonstrated how community-based biodiesel facilities can enhance local productivity, promote energy sustainability, and create additional economic opportunities for farmers and fisherfolk.
As a promising SSF initiative, the project was also presented as a potential model for replication across other DTI Regional Offices, supporting the Department’s efforts to foster inclusive growth, strengthen community enterprises, and advance sustainable development nationwide.
