CEBU — The 2026 Coco Negosyo – Cebu Coconut Market Expo generated ₱2.38 million in cash and booked sales and opened new market opportunities for coconut-based enterprises from Cebu and Bohol during the four-day event held from August 20 to 23, 2026, at the Ayala Center Cebu Activity Center.

Organized by the DTI Region 7 Central Visayas, through the DTI Cebu, in coordination with the Philippine Coconut Authority Region 7 (PCA-7), Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), and Department of Agriculture–Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI), the expo featured 28 coconut-based MSMEs, cooperatives, and farmer organizations—20 from Cebu and eight from Bohol—showcasing their products across 25 exhibition booths.

Held as part of the 40th National Coconut Week, with the theme “Lubi, Bahandi sa Kinaiyahan, Kusog sa Panginabuhian,” Coco Negosyo went beyond product promotion and selling by combining market access, technology sharing, and enterprise capability building.🇵🇭

CEBU — DTI Cebu and the University of San Carlos have formalized their partnership for the Business Resilience Project (BRP), a collaborative initiative that aims to help micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) prepare for, respond to, adapt to, and recover from business disruptions.

The DTI Cebu–USC partnership was formalized through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on August 20, 2026, at the University of San Carlos. During the same activity, participating MSMEs signed Participant Commitment Forms signifying their commitment to take part in the project and its resilience planning activities.

Through the BRP, DTI Cebu and USC aim to translate resilience concepts into practical business actions—helping participating MSMEs identify vulnerabilities, protect critical business functions, prepare for disruptions, and establish realistic measures for continuity, recovery, and adaptation.

The initiative reflects the partners’ shared commitment to building Cebuano enterprises that are better prepared not only to withstand disruptions, but also to adapt and continue operating and growing amid changing business conditions.🇵🇭

Region 7 Celebrates STARTUP MONTH: Get Deal-Ready with STARTUPISLAND.PH

As part of the celebration and through the continued collaboration of DTI-7, DOST-7, and DICT-7 in strengthening the startup ecosystem in Central Visayas, DTI Region 7 Central Visayas, through StartupIsland.PH (SIPH), is launching the SIPH Venture Ready: Deal Readiness Track Program.

Following the recently concluded SIPH Venture Ready: Startup Investment Readiness Program, we are taking the next step in helping startups better understand what comes after investment readiness.

The Deal Readiness Track is designed to help founders navigate the realities of startup funding—from understanding how investment deals are structured to exploring government grants that can support startup growth.

𝐇𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐋𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒 | DTI, TikTok Shop, and Converge SME Solutions strengthen partnership to empower MSMEs

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), TikTok Shop, and Converge SME Solutions Inc. signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and conducted the Unlad Lokal Cebu Roadshow on August 25, 2026, in Cebu City.

Attended by more than 100 participants, the partnership aims to equip MSMEs with the digital tools, skills, connectivity, and market opportunities they need to thrive in the digital economy.

The DTI E-Commerce Bureau (DTI ECB), represented by Assistant Director Perpetua Werlina R. Lim, shared with the Cebu MSMEs about Republic Act No. 11967, or the Internet Transactions Act of 2023, and its role in promoting a safer and inclusive digital marketplace.

DTI Central Visayas Acting Regional Director Esperanza Melgar emphasized that the tripartite partnership reaffirms DTI’s commitment to capacitating Filipino MSMEs to participate effectively and efficiently in the digital economy.

Present at the Unlad Lokal Cebu Roadshow were Cebu Governor Hon. Pamela Baricuatro, TikTok Shop Marketing Lead Mr. Franco Aligaen, and Converge SVP and Head of the SME Business Group Mr. Dindo Marzan.
