DOH: MAGING HANDA SA EPEKTO NG HAZE SA KALUSUGAN!

Dahil sa hanging Habagat, umabot na sa ilang bahagi ng Luzon at Visayas ang usok mula sa forest fires sa Kalimantan, Indonesia.

Maaaring magdulot ang haze ng hirap sa paghinga, pag-ubo, pananakit ng dibdib, pangangati o pagluluha ng mga mata, at paglala ng mga sakit sa baga tulad ng hika. Dobleng pag-iingat ang kailangan para sa mga bata, matatanda, at mga may dati nang sakit sa baga o puso.

Habang nagpapatuloy ang banta ng haze, mag-suot ng mask kung lalabas ng bahay. Alamin ang lagay ng hangin sa inyong lugar at unahin ang kaligtasan. Maging handa sa banta ng Haze!

Strengthening Legal Support and Protection for Senior Citizens

The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) Region VII conducted a meeting with Atty. Bernardino T. Amago IV, President of the Cebu City Chapter of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), to discuss the proposed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the NCSC and IBP on the protection of the rights and promotion of the welfare of senior citizens and their families.

The discussion focused on the possible implementation and coordination of the MOA, particularly in strengthening access to legal assistance, raising awareness of the rights and privileges of senior citizens, and addressing legal concerns affecting older persons and their families.

Through this proposed partnership, NCSC Region VII and IBP Cebu City aim to help ensure that senior citizens are informed of their rights, protected from legal concerns, and provided with appropriate legal support when needed.

Together, we continue to build stronger systems of support that uphold the rights, dignity, and welfare of every senior citizen.

Strengthening Collaboration for Elderly Filipino Week 2026

The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) Region VII organized the Cebu OSCA Heads Association (COHA) Meeting at the Session Hall of the Legislative Building, Cebu Provincial Capitol, to discuss and prepare the upcoming programs and activities for the Elderly Filipino Week 2026 celebration.

The meeting served as an avenue for coordination, planning, and collaboration among OSCA Heads to ensure meaningful and inclusive activities that will recognize, honor, and promote the welfare of senior citizens throughout Cebu.

Through strengthened partnerships and collective efforts, NCSC Region VII and COHA continue to advance programs that uphold the rights, dignity, and active participation of older persons in society.

Bringing Government Services Closer to the People

The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) Region VII, led by Regional Director Jocelyn O. Tabotabo, participated in the Cebu Province Caravan of Services held in Tabuelan, Cebu on August 26, 2026.

The program, initiated by Cebu Province Governor Hon. Pamela S. Baricuatro, brought various government services closer to communities, providing residents with access to information, assistance, and essential public services.

NCSC Region VII remains committed to bringing programs and services closer to senior citizens and ensuring that their rights, needs, and welfare are given priority.

Together, we continue to bring responsive and inclusive public service closer to every Cebuano.

Empowering Senior Citizens Through Tourism

The NCSC Region VII and Department of Tourism (DOT) Region VII held a collaborative meeting in preparation for the upcoming Community Tour Guiding Program as part of the Elderly Filipino Week 2026 celebration.

The initiative aims to provide capable and active senior citizens with opportunities to undergo training and become community tour guides, allowing them to share their knowledge and experiences while promoting Cebu's rich history and culture.

As part of the celebration, Presidents of Senior Citizens Associations from the different municipalities of Cebu will also participate in an Educational Tour for Senior Citizens on October 6, 2026.

Through this partnership, NCSC Region VII and DOT Region VII continue to promote active, productive, and meaningful aging.

Moving Together, Growing Stronger! 💙👴👵

A morning of movement, laughter, and meaningful connections! The NCSC Region VII proudly joined the First Cebu City Senior Citizen Fun Walk, bringing together our senior citizens for a fun-filled celebration of active and healthy aging.

The event was led by OSCA Office-in-Charge Teresita E. Fernandez, together with Councilor Francis Esparis, NCSC Region VII Regional Director Jocelyn O. Tabotabo.

Our heartfelt appreciation goes to Mayor Nestor D. Archival for his unwavering support and commitment to the welfare of Cebu City's senior citizens.

Most importantly, we thank God for blessing everyone with a safe, meaningful, and successful event.

Let us continue to inspire our older persons to stay active, stay healthy, and keep enjoying life! 🌿❤️
