Cebu City Mayor Hon. Nestor D. Archival spearheaded the National Heroes Day Celebration of the City of Cebu.

In his message, Mayor Archival paid tribute not only to the heroes of the past but also to the unsung heroes of today, whose everyday acts of service and responsibility contribute to the betterment of the community.

He emphasized that heroism can be expressed through simple, meaningful actions. By bringing personal tumblers and reducing the use of single-use plastics, every Cebuan can become a modern-day hero by helping prevent unnecessary plastic waste from ending up in our drainage systems, waterways, and seas.

The Department of Foreign Affairs Consular Office Cebu, in partnership with the Cebu City Government through the Cultural and Historical Affairs Office, conducted the lecture โ€œGuided by Rizal: Practical Values for Work and Daily Lifeโ€ earlier today at the Cebu City Museum.

The lecture was delivered by Atty. Ian Christian Cosido, who shared insights on the enduring relevance of Dr. Josรฉ Rizalโ€™s life, ideals, and values in our work and everyday lives.

In his message for the occasion, Dr. Angel Espiritu Jr. reminded said โ€œpublic service is not simply a job. It is a responsibility to the Filipino people.โ€

He added that โ€œbehind every transaction is a Filipino with a story. A passport may represent a job, an education, a family reunion, or a new opportunity. An authenticated document may represent an important step in someoneโ€™s life.โ€

He reminded DFA employees that they โ€œare not simply processing papers. We are helping Filipinos move forward.โ€

The lecture serves as a timely reminder that Rizalโ€™s legacy is not confined to history books. His values can guide us in how we conduct ourselves, perform our responsibilities, treat others, and contribute to our community and country.

In celebration of Cebu City Arts Month, the City of Cebu, through the Cultural and Historical Affairs Office and the Friday Group Sessionistas (FGS), hosted a hands-on art workshop at the Cebu City Museum, led by Mr. Efren Enolva and his team.

The session offered student-artists a grounding in freehand methods. Addressing the rising popularity of digital automation, Enolva urged the youth not to swap genuine practice for quick software results. "AI is only useful as a tool, not a medium," Enolva emphasized during the workshop. "Regarding freehand practice, AI is not recommended in order to grow your skill level. It has to be 100% genuinely original creativity... Balik jud ta sa freehand and basic fundamental techniques."

The event's success was made possible through the enthusiastic participation of Ramon Duterte Memorial National High School (RDMNHS) Senior High School students, guided by SHS Immersion Coordinator Mrs. Edna Gabisay.
