𝐀𝐁𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐎𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐁𝐔𝐃𝐆𝐄𝐓

I did not vote YES to the 2027 National Budget because I cannot vote for a budget that is unfair to the 3rd District of Cebu. I also did not vote NO because that P7.2-trillion budget pays our teachers, nurses, soldiers and police, and funds medicines and disaster response.

Why is it unfair to the Third District? Because it is almost 90% less than our budget for this year. From P1.9 billion for public works down to about P218 million for 2027. No flood mitigation, no new roads, no multi-purpose building, no water system for Toledo City, Aloguinsan, Asturias, Balamban, Barili, Pinamungajan and Tuburan.

This, from a district that gives so much to our country: copper from Toledo, 12,000+ shipyard jobs in Balamban, and 300 megawatts of power for the Visayas.

After the earthquake, Typhoon Tino, blackouts and rising prices, the people of Cebu’s 3rd District deserve more, not less.

I abstain, with hope. Because miracles can still happen at the bicam.

Before I am anything else in this chamber, I am the representative of the Third District of Cebu: the more than 600,000 people of Toledo City and the Municipalities of Aloguinsan, Asturias, Balamban, Barili, Pinamungajan and Tuburan who sent me here. I cannot vote for a budget that treats them as this one does.
