Makabayan calls on supporters to vote for 12 senators

Makabayan is officially endorsing 11 senatorial candidates and 4 partylist groups for the 2025 mid-term elections but is asking voters to choose a 12th candidate to complete the line up. The 11 senatorial candidates from Makabayan are KMU’s Jerome Adonis, nurse Alyn Andamo, Pamalakaya leader Ronnel Arambulo, Gabriela represenative Arlene Brosas, Bayan chair Teddy Casino, ACT Teachers representative France Castro, Kadamay leader Mimi Doringo, PISTON president Mody Floranda, Sandugo Moro leader Amirah Lidasan, Makabayan President Liza Maza and KMP chair Danilo Ramos. The four partylist groups are Bayan Muna, Gabriela Women’s Party, ACT Teachers Partylist and Kabataan Partylist.

We leave it to our supporters and friends to choose the 12th senatorial candidate who will complete their senatorial line up. We hope they choose the candidate whose positions on issues are closest to the positions taken by Makabayan and its partylist groups.

We need a people’s opposition in the next Congress. With issues such as the worsening economic crisis, the impeachment of the Vice President, the ICC trial of former president Duterte, continuing human rights violations and attacks on our national sovereignty, we cannot rely on either Marcos nor Duterte loyalists to uphold the interests of the people. Both parties have shown that their respective slates were formed out of convenience and self-serving ends. A people’s opposition is necessary to ensure that we have a voice in Congress.

Makabayan will be holding its Miting de Avance for Souther Tagalog, Bicol and Negros regions on May 1. The national Miting de Avance will be held in Tomas Morato Extension in Quezon City on May 9 at around 5pm.

📍BACOOR, CAVITE

Yesterday, Koalisyong Makabayan senatorial candidates Ka Ronnel Arambulo, Nanay Mimi Doringo and Nurse Alyn Andamo joins farmers, indigenous people, local fisherfolks, church workers and urban poor in the official launching of AKKD TK : Alyansa Kontra Kumbersyon at Demolisyon - Timog Katagalugan in Bacoor, Cavite. The activity highlighted the rampant development aggression in the whole Southern Tagalog region and calls for action to defend the people’s rights for land, livelihood, housing and basic social services.

Kej Andres, 7th nominee of Kabataan Partylist leads the opening prayer of the activity. Whilst Makabayan Senatoriables expressed their highest solidarities and reiterated the need for people’s unity and active struggle against Land Use Conversion (LUC). Mirriam Villanueva, 5th nominee of Gabriela Women’s Partylist also shared her decades-long experience in the peasant movement and peasant struggle against land conversion.

Before the launching, Makabayan senators also joined fluvial-protest at Maliksi, Bacoor commemorating the Earth Day. It is then followed by lunch with local fisherfolk leaders in Cavite.

Throughout the history of Cavite, the glaring struggles of local residents is the issue of conversion and lack of basic social services where hundreds and thousands suffers almost everyday. Political dynasties continues to infest our local government whilst the plight of the people remains. It is only in the 11 senators of Makabayan Cavite can we see the true representation of the masses and the most active participation for genuine societal change.

ASSALAMU ALAIKUM MGA KAPATID AT KABABAYAN! 💛💚

Ngayong araw, bumisita tayo sa mga konunidad ng ating mga kapatid na muslim sa syudad ng Imus at Bacoor kasama si Makabayan Senatorial Candidate, Amirah “Mek” Lidasan.

Kahit tagaktak na ang pawis, umikot sa loob ng Imus Palengke at Lumina Mall Point ang campaign team upang ipakilala ang Makabayan at mamahagi ng mga flyers, pamaypay at stickers sa mga vendors at tricycle drivers.

Sinundan ito ng ating pagbisita sa mga kapatid na Palestino upang makumusta at makatalakayan hinggil sa kanilang kalagayan. Sinara natin ang araw sa pagbisita sa United Muslim and Christian Neighborhood Association sa Bacoor, Cavite.

Mainit tayong sinalubong ng mga ngiti at kamayan ng mga tao. Relatibong makapal ang populasyon ng ating mga kapatid na muslim sa buong Cavite na nagmula pa sa iba’t ibang rehiyon. Nananatili ang kanilang sigaw para sa pagtataguyod ng karapatan, kapayapaan at pagpapaunlad ng kultura—TIYAK NA IPINAGLALABAN NG MAKABAYAN!

LOOK: Members of the Koalisyong Makabayan Cavite filed a complaint regarding election campaign-related misconduct before the Comelec in Trece Martires City on Tuesday, March 25.

The coalition cites various incidents committed against their senatorial candidates and progressive partylists, including blatant dismantling of campaign materials and being targeted by red-tagging and smear campaigns.

Other members of Makabayan Southern Tagalog chapter were also at the Comelec national office in Intramuros, as well as at provincial offices in Laguna and Rizal, filing similar complaints.

Makabayan Cavite Files Letter Against Red-Tagging and Black Propaganda to COMELEC in Trece Martires City, Provincial Capitol

Koalisyong Makabayan - Cavite has formally lodged complaints with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) in Trece Martires City, raising serious concerns over the prevalence of blatant removal of Makabayan and progressive partylists campaign materials, red-tagging and black propaganda during the ongoing 2025 electoral campaign in the province. The complaints, filed at the Provincial Capitol, call for immediate action to address these tactics that aim to undermine democratic processes and intimidate political opposition.

The primary complaints filed by Makabayan Cavite focus on the use of red-tagging and black propaganda against Makabayan senatorial candidates and partylists under the coalition. According to the coalition, these tactics are being employed by rival candidates or groups to discredit Makabayan Cavite’s platform and leadership, potentially influencing voter perception in an unfair manner.

Makabayan Cavite has presented evidence of posters, flyers, and online content that falsely accuse party members of ties to insurgent groups, creating an atmosphere of fear and suspicion. As part of the broader Makabayan Bloc, has been a target of red-tagging and smear campaigns in past elections, which the group argues are politically motivated attacks meant to delegitimize their cause and suppress their message of progressive change.

Makabayan Cavite’s decision to file these complaints with COMELEC serves as a reminder of the persistent challenges that progressive groups face in the electoral arena. ANG INIT! 🔥 ng salubong at pagtanggap ng mamamayang Kabitenyo sa Koalisyong Makabayan 🥰🥰🥰

Mula March 13-14, ang mga Makabayang senador na sina Ka Mimi Doringo, Teddy Casiño at Amirah "Mek" Lidasan kasama ang BAYAN MUNA Partylist 3rd nominee, Ferdie Gaite ay tumungo sa komunidad ng mga maralita, muslim at manggagawa para sa serye ng mga konsultasyon, courtesy visits, forum at palengke-hopping.

Pinangunahan ni Ka Mimi Doringo at Ferdie Gaite ang isang forum sa Brgy. San Nicolas III noong Marso 13 na nilahukan ng mga operator at drayber ng jeep, at mga opisyales ng lokal na neighborhood associations. Pinag-usapan ang tampok na isyu ng komunidad patungkol sa banta ng demolisyon, karapatan sa lupa at kawalan ng batayang serbisyong panlipunan.

Samantala, bumisita si Amirah Lidasan, Teddy Casiño at Ferdie Gaite sa komunidad ng ating mga kapatid na Muslim nitong Marso 14 upang kumustahin ang kanilang kalagayan at ibahagi ang programa ng Makabayan. Nakasalamuha rin natin ang ating mga kapatid na Palestino na pansamantalang kinupkop sa Cavite.

Sinundan ito ng isang water forum na nilahukan ng mga mga magsasaka at mamamayan sa Silang upang kanilang maidulog ang mga reklamo patungkol sa pribatisasyon ng patubig. Dito rin ibinahagi ni Teddy Casiño at ni Ferdie Gaite ang kanilang mga plataporma para sa usapin ng patubig.

Ngiti at kamayan ang sumalubong sa ating mga Makabayang senador at nominado dahil alam ng taumbayan kung sino ang tunay na naglilingkod para sa interes ng ating bayan!

Makabayan Cavite condemns the relentless smear campaign of Malayang Pilipino, a state-controlled machinery, against the Makabayan Coalition.

On March 12, several posters maligning and red-tagging the Makabayan Coalition were seen along the highways of Tanza, Cavite, particularly at Brgy. Paradahan and Brgy. Bagtas, while some were seen at the boundary between General Trias and Dasmariñas. The posters all bear malicious intent discrediting the legitimacy of the Makabayan Coalition, which are clear violations of electoral guidelines.

We also remember that since February 12, several accounts of blatant removal of Makabayan campaign materials by the Agimat Partylist have been reported all over Cavite.

We hereby urge the COMELEC to promptly investigate such incidents, and provide necessary measures to ensure a clean and honest elections moving forward. The smear campaign and the relentless “baklas” operations against the Makabayan Coalition are clear attempts to prevent the genuine representation of sectors in the congress.

Regardless, we remain firm in our grassroots campaigning and urges the people to report similar cases to our page.

We condemn the dirty campaigning tactics used by the Agimat Partylist on their provincial-wide operations in Cavite. Starting from February 11 up to present, numerous accounts of blatant removal of campaign posters of Makabayan, Bayan Muna Partylist and Gabriela Women’s Partylist in Bacoor City, Imus City and Dasmariñas City has been reported.

After removing and destroying campaign posters of Makabayan Senatoriables and other Partylist, campaign teams of Agimat installs their own campaign materials including their re-election posters of senatorial candidate, B**g Revilla. The most imminent cases of ‘baklasan’ is in Bacoor City in more than 7 barangays, inside or outside communities and along highways; where remnants of torn BAYAN MUNA Partylist and Gabriela Women's Party's posters as well as Makabayan Tarpaulins can be seen on the floor and treated like trash.

We urge the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to investigate this matter and immediately take action, as this gestures made by Agimat Partylist is a clear violation of Electoral Guidelines. This is not the first case where Agimat removes and covers campaign materials of Makabayan--- this has also happened in other provinces in the Southern Tagalog Region namely in Rizal.

Regardless, Makabayan Cavite will continue with its grassroots campaigning. We urge the people to monitor and report any similar cases inside or outside of Cavite.

ICYMI: Simula Enero 29 hanggang ngayong Pebrero 4, tuloy-tuloy ang pagbisita ng Makabayan Cavite sa mga terminal, tindahan, paaralan at komunidad sa Dasmariñas upang maipakilala sa mamamayan ng Dasma ang ating mga Makabayan Senators.

Mainit na sinuportahan ng mamamayan ang mga plataporma ng mga senador ng taumbayan. Marami sa ating mga nakausap ay nagpakita ng kasiglahan sa talakayan sa pagtaas ng presyo ng mga pangunahing bilihin, serbisyo sa patubig at ang malaganap na korapsyon sa ating gubyerno.

Kaya, hindi na maiwasan ng mga drayber, manininda, estudyante at mga manggagawa na magbukas ng kanilang mga daing sa kanilang nararanasang matinding kahirapan.

Ito ang mga pinaglalaban ng ating mga senador bilang mga representante ng mga aping-sektor ng ating lipunan. Bibitbitin ang mga interes ng taumbayan at matapang na makikibaka kahit sa gitna ng malalakas na unos!
