TWO ANTI-SMUGGLING OPS YIELD ₱8.2M IN SEIZED GOODS, 2 ARRESTS

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported the successful conduct of two anti-smuggling operations on the evening of May 6, 2026, resulting in the seizure of illegal goods worth over ₱8.2 million and the arrest of two individuals in Misamis Oriental and Zamboanga del Sur.

In Opol, Misamis Oriental, personnel of the Opol Municipal Police Station under Police Regional Office 10 (PRO 10) acted on intelligence reports and verified suspected illegal stockpiling in Barangay Limonda. Authorities discovered about 1,500 sacks of suspected mineral ores valued at ₱2,535,000.00. One Filipino male of legal age was arrested, while other individuals fled upon arrival of the operating team. The suspect and items were brought to the police station for proper disposition.

In a separate operation in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, operatives from the Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Intelligence Unit, Pagadian City Police Station, and RMFB9 intercepted suspected smuggled ci******es through an intelligence-driven operation.

Confiscated were 92 master cases of Diamond ci******es, 7 master cases of Guiyan ci******es, and 1 master case of Huanghelou ci******es, with an estimated value of ₱5,730,000.00. A male Filipino of legal age was arrested during the operation.

The PNP said these accomplishments support the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to strengthen law enforcement against smuggling and protect the country’s economy. The operations are also in line with the PNP Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations.

PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., commended the operating units for their quick response, saying the police force will continue to act on verified intelligence to stop illegal activities at the source.

“Hindi tayo titigil sa pagsugpo ng smuggling at iba pang ilegal na gawain. Ang layunin natin ay protektahan ang ekonomiya at ang publiko,” he said.

The PNP assured the public that similar operations will continue nationwide as part of its sustained campaign against illegal activities, in support of Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.

PNP, DMW NABS KOREAN IN ILLEGAL JOB SCAM CRACKDOWN

The Philippine National Police, under the leadership of PNP Chief PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., intensified its nationwide campaign against illegal recruitment and fraudulent overseas employment schemes following the arrest of a Korean national involved in an alleged illegal recruitment operation in Davao City.

On May 4, 2026, operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Davao City Field Unit, in coordination with representatives from the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), conducted an entrapment operation along McArthur Highway, Davao City, which led to the arrest of alias “Hyun,” a 54-year-old Korean national, for alleged illegal recruitment activities targeting aspiring overseas workers.

Investigation disclosed that the suspect was engaged in recruiting Filipinos as factory workers in South Korea and was caught accepting a placement fee from a victim despite having no authority or license from the Department of Migrant Workers to recruit individuals for overseas employment. The suspect allegedly promised employment in Seoul, South Korea, with a monthly salary of KRW 2,200,000.00 or approximately PhP92,000.00, including free accommodation and meals, in exchange for a processing fee of PhP28,000.00.

Authorities further disclosed that at least 40 individuals were allegedly victimized by the scheme, including 19 residents from Davao City. The operation forms part of the government’s strengthened enforcement of Republic Act No. 8042, as amended by Republic Act No. 10022, which seeks to uphold the dignity and welfare of Filipino migrant workers and protect them from exploitation and illegal recruitment activities.

“This operation reflects our determination to protect Filipinos from individuals who take advantage of their desire to work abroad. Illegal recruitment destroys opportunities and places the safety and future of our people at risk,” said PGEN Nartatez.

“Hindi natin hahayaang malinlang at mapagsamantalahan ang ating mga kababayan na naghahanap lamang ng maayos na trabaho para sa kanilang pamilya. Patuloy nating hahabulin ang mga sangkot sa ganitong uri ng panlilinlang,” he added.

The successful joint operation highlights the continuing collaboration between the CIDG and the Department of Migrant Workers in dismantling illegal recruitment networks and preventing fraudulent overseas job schemes. It also reinforces the PNP Focused Agenda—an operational framework of transformation designed to make police service more responsive and dependable. Among its key priorities, Enhanced Managing Police Operations remains vital in strengthening law enforcement actions against illegal recruitment, human trafficking, and other forms of organized exploitation targeting Filipino workers.

PGEN Nartatez likewise emphasized that the arrest serves as a stern warning against individuals exploiting Filipino workers through deceptive recruitment activities.

“We will continue strengthening our enforcement efforts with partner agencies to ensure that those behind illegal recruitment schemes are held accountable under the law and that aspiring overseas workers are protected from abuse and deception,” said PGEN Nartatez.

“Mas paiigtingin pa natin ang pagbabantay laban sa mga illegal recruiter upang maprotektahan ang kinabukasan ng bawat Pilipinong manggagawa,” he stressed.

As the PNP sustains its intensified campaign against illegal recruitment and human trafficking under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., it continues to assure the public of “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman.”

PNP RESCUES MINOR VICTIMS, FOILS ONLINE EXPLOITATION IN CAVITE

The Philippine National Police Women and Children Protection Center – Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division (WCPC–ATIPD), together with the Anti-Cybercrime Group, Mendez Municipal Police Station, Cavite Police Provincial Office, and local government social welfare personnel, successfully conducted an operation on April 29, 2026, resulting in the rescue of three minor victims and the arrest of two suspects identified as their parents in Cavite.

The operation was carried out through a Warrant to Search, Seize, and Examine Computer Data in relation to Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC). Authorities acted on validated cyber tip information from international and national partner agencies, which triggered a focused investigation leading to the location of the victims and suspects.

Initial findings showed that online exploitation activities involving minors were allegedly facilitated through digital platforms in exchange for monetary gain. Several electronic devices were recovered during the operation and were subjected to on-site forensic examination, which yielded digital evidence relevant to the ongoing investigation.

Criminal complaints have been filed for violations of Republic Act No. 11930 or the Anti-OSAEC and Anti-CSAEM Act of 2022, in relation to Republic Act No. 10175 or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012. The suspects are now under the custody of the WCPC Field Unit in Luzon, while the rescued children are currently receiving proper care, counseling, and psychosocial support under the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.

PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., emphasized the organization’s firm stance against all forms of abuse involving children, saying, “Ang bawat bata ay dapat protektado. The PNP will continue to act swiftly and decisively against those who exploit the vulnerable. Walang puwang ang ganitong klase ng krimen sa ating komunidad, and we remain committed to bringing offenders to justice while ensuring the safety and recovery of the victims.”

The operation aligns with the PNP Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, in support of the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., reinforcing strengthened coordination among law enforcement and partner agencies in addressing cyber-enabled crimes.

The PNP also reminds the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious online activities involving minors to authorities. Community vigilance and timely reporting remain vital in preventing similar incidents and protecting children from harm.

This successful operation reflects the continuing commitment of the organization under the principle of “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.”

JOINT OPERATION SEIZES ₱1M FAKE, UNREGISTERED FERTILIZER IN ISABELA BUST

The Philippine National Police, under the leadership of PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., confiscated counterfeit and unregistered fertilizer products valued at ₱1,028,000.00 during the service of a search warrant at an establishment in Barangay Sta. Isabel Norte, Ilagan City, Isabela. Authorities discovered containerized fertilizer stocks believed to be illegally manufactured and distributed, posing potential risks to both agricultural productivity and public safety.

The operation was carried out through the joint efforts of the CIDG Isabela, Isabela Police Provincial Office, Ilagan Component City Police Station, Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Fertilizer and Pesticides Authority (FPA) Region 2. The seized items consisted of bulk quantities of fertilizer stored in containers without proper registration and certification, in violation of existing regulations governing agricultural inputs. The FPA emphasized that such products may harm crops, degrade soil quality, and endanger consumers if allowed to circulate in the market.

PGEN Nartatez underscored the importance of sustained enforcement operations against illegal agricultural products. “We will continue to pursue those who exploit our farmers and compromise public safety for profit. These operations send a clear message that illegal trade will not be tolerated,” he said. “Hindi natin papayagan na malinlang ang ating mga magsasaka sa paggamit ng pekeng abono na maaaring makasira sa kanilang ani at kabuhayan.”

This operation aligns with the PNP Focused Agenda—serving as a strategic framework of transformation designed to make police service more responsive and community-centered. At the heart of this agenda are key priorities that define the course of the PNP, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations and Active Community Support, as demonstrated in the intensified crackdown against harmful and unregulated agricultural products.

PGEN Nartatez further called on the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities involving illegal goods. “Public cooperation is vital in protecting our communities from hazardous and unlawful products. Together, we can safeguard both livelihoods and consumer welfare,” he added. “Ang pakikiisa ng mamamayan ay mahalaga upang mapigilan ang pagkalat ng mga iligal na produkto sa merkado at maprotektahan ang kapakanan ng lahat.”

As the PNP strengthens its campaign against illegal and harmful commodities that threaten public welfare and economic stability under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., it continues to assure the public of “Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman.”
