An EPAHP Value-Added Training on Bag Weaving was successfully conducted on May 28–29, 2026, at the NIA MARIIS Division IV Training Center, Minante I, Cauayan City, Isabela. The activity was spearheaded by the Institutional Development Section (IDS) of the Head Office as part of its continuing efforts to provide sustainable livelihood opportunities for Irrigators' Association (IA) members.

The two-day training brought together IA members from various Division Offices, providing them with an opportunity to learn and develop practical bag-weaving skills. Through this initiative, participants were introduced to an alternative source of income that can help augment their household earnings and improve their overall economic well-being.

The training aimed not only to enhance the participants' livelihood opportunities but also to empower them with new knowledge and skills that they can utilize in creating marketable products. By equipping IA members with these competencies, the program contributes to strengthening their capacity for self-reliance and entrepreneurship.

Serving as the Learning Service Provider (LSP) was Ms. Violeta R. Gamiao, who shared her expertise and guided the participants throughout the training. Through hands-on demonstrations and practical exercises, she ensured that the participants gained a clear understanding of the bag-weaving process, from material preparation to product completion.

The activity concluded with participants expressing their appreciation for the valuable learning experience and their enthusiasm to apply their newly acquired skills in generating additional livelihood opportunities for themselves and their families.

To strengthen awareness on sustainable and environment-friendly farming practices, the National Irrigation Administration – MARIIS, in partnership with Agrispecialist Incorporated, successfully conducted the Bio-N Fertilizer Orientation on May 7, 2026, at the NIA-MARIIS Division IV Training Center.

The activity was attended by Institutional Development Officers (IDO) and Irrigators’ Association (IA) Officers from various associations within the service area. The orientation aimed to provide participants with additional knowledge on the importance and benefits of using Bio-N Microbial Fertilizer in agricultural production.

During the activity, Mr. Randy S. Agustin, Agronomist and Region 2 Technical Representative of Agrispecialist Incorporated, served as the resource speaker. He discussed the features, advantages, and proper application of Bio-N Microbial Fertilizer, emphasizing its contribution to improving soil fertility, enhancing crop productivity, and promoting sustainable farming practices. Also highlighted how microbial fertilizers can help farmers reduce dependency on chemical fertilizers while maintaining healthy crop growth.

Meanwhile, Engr. Gileu Michael O. Dimoloy encouraged the participants to actively participate in the discussion and maximize the opportunity to gain additional knowledge that could help improve their farming practices and organizational activities.

The orientation forms part of the continuing efforts of NIA-MARIIS to support irrigators’ associations and farming communities through capacity-building activities and agricultural innovations that contribute to increased productivity and sustainable development in the irrigation sector.

The National Irrigation Administration – Magat River Integrated Irrigation System (NIA–MARIIS) spearheaded the conduct of a Consultation Meeting, today, April 30, 2026 as part of its proactive response to the anticipated impacts of the forecasted El Niño phenomenon, which is expected to trigger a dry spell across its service areas.

Held at the NIA–MARIIS Multipurpose Hall, the activity brought together key stakeholders from various government agencies, Department of Agriculture, Local Government Units (LGUs), and Irrigators’ Associations (IAs). The meeting served as a collaborative platform to discuss updates and, more importantly, to revisit and recalibrate the recently programmed areas for the Wet Cropping Season 2026.

With the looming threat of El Niño, the consultation focused on aligning plans with the current climate outlook to ensure efficient water utilization and sustained agricultural productivity. Participants actively engaged in identifying priority areas, refining irrigation schedules, and exploring adaptive strategies that would help mitigate the effects of the dry spell.

This convergent activity is a strategic and deliberate intervention of NIA–MARIIS to address the potential crisis brought about by the dry spell.

In his message, 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐫. 𝐆𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐮 𝐌𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐞𝐥 𝐎. 𝐃𝐢𝐦𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐲, 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐀 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐈𝐀–𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐈𝐒, emphasized the vital role of strong coordination among other agencies, LGUs, and Irrigators’ Associations in ensuring the effective planning and timely implementation of responsive interventions, particularly in addressing the challenges posed by the impending dry spell.

The activity highlighted the importance of early planning, shared responsibility, and unified action in safeguarding food security and supporting farmers amid climate uncertainties. Through this initiative, NIA–MARIIS reaffirms its commitment to resilient irrigation management and responsive service delivery for the farming communities it serves.

Bunga ng matagumpay na pagpapatupad ng Egg Layering Project ng NIA MARIIS sa Division III, ibinida ng mga benepisyaryo ang kanilang sariwang ani ng itlog sa isinagawang KADIWA ng Pangulo ngayong Abril 16, 2026.
Mula sa layuning magbigay ng dagdag kabuhayan, nagiging konkretong oportunidad ito para sa mga Irrigators’ Associations na mapalago ang kanilang kita at mapalakas ang kanilang kabuhayan.

Ibinida ng mga benepisyaryo mula sa SANDIAT CIA at Lanting San Jose Lucban IA ang kanilang sariwang ani sa aktibidad, nakapagbenta ang SANDIAT CIA ng 19 na tray ng itlog at 6 na tray naman ang San Jose Lucban IA.

Lubos ang pasasalamat ng mga benepisyaryo sa NIA MARIIS sa patuloy na suporta ng ahensya, sa pangunguna ni Engr. Gileu Michael O. Dimoloy, Department Manager A, at ni Engr. Jaime M. Lara, Division Manager A ng Division III, kasama ang Institutional Development Section sa pangunguna ni Ms. Veronica V. Aaron at ang Division III Institutional Development Unit, na naging katuwang sa matagumpay na pagpapatupad ng proyekto para sa kapakinabangan ng mga magsasaka.

Ang Egg Layering Project ay isa sa patunay ng patuloy na pagsisikap ng ahensya na mapalakas ang kabuhayan ng mga magsasaka isang hakbang tungo sa mas matatag at masaganang sektor ng agrikultura.

HAPPENING NOW: IAS FINANCIAL AUDIT MANAGEMENT

Aligned with the revised IAS CY 2024–2026 Strategic Plan, MARIIS has been identified as one of the priority areas included in the IAs Annual Audit Work Plan for CY 2026. The audit was spearheaded by the IAS Team from the Central Office, led by Ms. Avelyn U. Nocellado, Sr. Internal Control Officer B, together with her team. The Irrigators Associations audited were the NARIGTA IA under the Upper Lateral CIA of Division II, Sadiri IA under the SMBBF CIA of Division III, as well as the CPPL IA under the LADECO CIA of Division IV.

This activity aims to ensure that the Operation and Maintenance (O&M) subsidy is properly managed, transparently distributed, and duly received by the Irrigators Associations.

Through this audit, the team seek to strengthen accountability, verify compliance with existing policies and guidelines, and support the continuous improvement of systems that directly benefit our farmer-members.

The NIA–MARIIS spearheads the conduct of the System Management Committee Meeting, with the active participation of stakeholders from various government agencies, Local Government Units (LGUs), and Irrigators’ Association (IA) Presidents held on NIA-MARIIS Multi-purpose hall, Cauayan City, Isabela.

The meeting serves as a platform to discuss updates, programs, and collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening irrigation management and further improving the delivery of services and support for our farmers.

Through continuous coordination and partnership, NIA–MARIIS and its stakeholders remain committed to enhancing agricultural productivity and promoting sustainable irrigation development for farming communities.

The National Irrigation Administration- Magat River Integrated Irrigation System (NIA-MARIIS) joined in the 1st Cagayan Valley Hybrid Rice Derby Farmers Field Day held at FDN Integrated Farm, showcasing its continued commitment to supporting agricultural innovation and productivity among farmers in the region.

With the theme “Ani ang Usapan, Hybrid ang Labanan: Inobasyon Para sa Bagong Pilipinas,” the activity gathered farmers, agricultural stakeholders, and government agencies to demonstrate the potential of hybrid rice varieties and modern farming technologies in improving rice production.

The event was organized by FDN Integrated Farm, owned by Mr. Francis Nitura, a member of the NDC 5 Council of Irrigators’ Association under NIA-MARIIS Division 3.

The farmers field day served as an avenue for farmers to observe and evaluate different hybrid rice varieties grown under actual field conditions, allowing them to learn about improved farming practices and technologies that can enhance yield and farm productivity.

The event was attended by officials from the NIA-MARIIS Head Office spearheaded by Engr. Gileu Michael O. Dimoloy, Department Manager A, Engr. Roldan Bermudez, Engineering and Operations Division Manager, Engr. Jaime M. Lara, NIA-MARIIS Division 3 Manager, and Ms. Veronica V. Aaron, Head of the Institutional Development Section.

Representatives from partner agricultural government agencies such as DOLE, PhilRice, DA, and ATI, as well as private sector partners, also joined the said activity.

This initiatives like the Hybrid Rice Derby, NIA-MARIIS continues to strengthen collaboration with partner agencies and stakeholders in promoting innovative agricultural practices. Such efforts aim to improve irrigation-supported farming systems, increase rice productivity, strengthen food security, and uplift the livelihood of Filipino farmers.
