🌾 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝! 🌾

Today, August 20, 2026, City Mayor Dexter Uy formally awarded the ₱50,000.00 Livelihood Assistance Grant to the Old Mahayag Agriculture Cooperative (OMAC) at the City Mayor’s Office.

The grant, provided through the City Cooperatives Development Office (CCDO), will support the establishment of OMAC’s Community Bigasan (Rice Retailing Project) in Barangay Old Mahayag. The initiative aims to make affordable and quality rice more accessible to residents while reducing the additional cost and inconvenience of purchasing rice from distant areas.

Beyond providing an essential community service, the project will also serve as a sustainable income-generating enterprise for OMAC, helping strengthen the cooperative’s financial capacity and creating opportunities for future programs and livelihood initiatives for its members and the community.

Through the continued support of the City Government of Catbalogan, we remain committed to empowering cooperatives and promoting food accessibility, sustainable livelihoods, and inclusive local economic development. 🤝🌾

Demonstrating its commitment to environmental protection and community service, the City Cooperatives Development Office (CCDO) joined the Antiiao River Clean-Up Drive conducted at the office's designated area in Poblacion 12, Catbalogan City on July 31, 2026.

The activity was carried out in accordance with Memorandum Circular No. 07-030, Series of 2026, reinforcing the City Government of Catbalogan's ongoing efforts to preserve the cleanliness of our waterways and promote a culture of environmental responsibility among government employees and the community.

Through initiatives like this, the CCDO remains one with the City's vision of building a cleaner, safer, and more sustainable Catbalogan. Together, we can make a lasting impact by protecting our environment—one clean-up at a time.

The City Cooperatives Development Office (CCDO) of the City Government of Catbalogan actively participated in the Region 8 CDO-CDC Meeting on the Operationalization of Cooperative Development Offices (CDOs) and Cooperative Development Councils (CDCs) held on July 29, 2026 at Avenue Hotel, Marasbaras, Tacloban City, Leyte.

Representing the City Government of Catbalogan were Mark Feleciano C. Boracan Jr. and Jericho C. Jacinto. The meeting served as an avenue to strengthen the implementation of cooperative development initiatives, discuss the operationalization of CDOs and CDCs across the region, and foster collaboration among local government units and key stakeholders.

The activity was spearheaded and organized by the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Extension Office VIII, reaffirming its commitment to empowering local government units in promoting a stronger, more responsive, and sustainable cooperative sector.

Together, we continue to build stronger cooperatives and more resilient communities.

Under the leadership and continued support of City Mayor Dexter Uy, the City Cooperatives Development Office (CCDO) successfully conducted the 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 on July 24, 2025, at the Spark Visitor Center, Calbiga, Samar, empowering Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), cooperatives, and community leaders with the knowledge and skills needed to develop effective business and project proposals.

The workshop featured informative discussions on the fundamentals of business proposal writing, understanding community needs, identifying opportunities, and practical techniques for crafting clear and compelling proposals. Participants also received a step-by-step guide on preparing project proposals for Civil Society Organizations, followed by a hands-on workshop where they developed their own project proposals with guidance from the facilitators.

The City Cooperatives Development Office also extends its sincere gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to the Municipality of Calbiga, under the leadership of Mayor Red Nacario, for the warm hospitality, generous accommodation, and unwavering support in making this activity a success. Your partnership and commitment to empowering communities through capacity-building initiatives are truly appreciated.
