In response to the ongoing water supply challenges and the call for greater comfort among students and university personnel, Wednesday is officially approved as Wash Day at Samar State University.

Starting every Wednesday, students and personnel may come in decent, modest, and presentable attire. The official SSU ID must also be visibly worn for identification and campus security.

This is more than just a change in dress code—it is a reminder that when the SSU community speaks, the institution listens. 💙

“Your Story, Our Conversation, Shared Hope.”✨

The SSU Psychosocial Peer Support Organization, in partnership with University Student Council and other collaborators, is currently conducting the Peer Support Training Program on September 1–2, 2026, at the CAS AVC, 1st Floor, CAS Academic Building, Samar State University.

This two-day learning experience continues to bring participants together to develop their knowledge, skills, and understanding of empathy, active listening, compassion, and effective peer support. 🤝

As the training continues, participants are given the opportunity to learn, reflect, share experiences, and better understand themselves and others—strengthening a community where everyone can listen without judgment, understand with empathy, and support one another with hope.

As Aristotle said, “Man is by nature a social animal.” This reminds us that no one should face challenges alone. Empowering oneself and knowing oneself is a bridge to one’s wisdom.

The conversation continues. The learning continues. And so does our commitment to building a community where every story is heard, every voice is valued, and everyone has someone to turn to. 💙

𝐊𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐆-𝐊𝐀𝐑𝐈𝐓 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 | 𝐑𝐄𝐆𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐓 𝐃𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐏𝐄𝐓𝐈𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍

The Samar State University University Student Council (SSU-USC), in partnership with the Katig Manarayaw Organization, successfully facilitated the Katig-Karit Regional Street Dance Competition on August 29, 2026, at the Samar State University Gymnasium.

The competition brought together talented performers from across the region, showcasing their creativity, discipline, and passion while celebrating the richness of regional culture and heritage through street dance.

The successful conduct of the event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the organizers, performers, volunteers, and partners who worked together both on and off the stage. From ensuring the smooth flow of the program to providing support throughout the performances, every contribution helped bring the competition to life.

The SSU-USC expresses its appreciation to the Katig Manarayaw Organization, all participating performers, organizers, volunteers, and members of the audience for their invaluable contributions to this celebration of talent, culture, and community.

August 21 marks 𝐍𝐢𝐧𝐨𝐲 𝐀𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐃𝐚𝐲, a day when we pause to remember a Filipino whose life became part of the country’s continuing story of democracy.

But remembrance is more than looking back.

For students, it can mean having the courage to question what is wrong, the responsibility to use our voices wisely, and the willingness to stand for something bigger than ourselves.

The Philippines we inherit tomorrow will be shaped by the choices we make today. In our classrooms, organizations, communities, and future professions, every act of integrity and every decision to serve can become part of something greater.

Today, we commemorate the birth anniversary of Manuel L. Quezon, the first President of the Commonwealth of the Philippines and a prominent advocate of the Filipino language.

His life reminds us that true leadership is rooted in service, courage, and a commitment to nation-building. May his legacy continue to inspire us to value our identity, strengthen our unity, and serve our fellow Filipinos with purpose.

𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞

On August 3, 2026, the University Student Council successfully convened a Special Meeting, bringing together student leaders to discuss significant matters that will contribute to the Council's continuing commitment to effective leadership and quality service.

Through meaningful discussions, collaborative planning, and the exchange of ideas, the Council worked toward strengthening its initiatives, enhancing organizational coordination, and ensuring that its future actions remain aligned with the needs and aspirations of the student body.

While the details of the discussions remain within the Council, the outcomes of this meeting will serve as a foundation for upcoming initiatives and programs that aim to create a more responsive, transparent, and student-centered University Student Council.

Together, we remain committed to leading with purpose, serving with integrity, and building a stronger Samar State University community.
