Training in Basic Filipino Sign Language for PWD Focals, PDAO President, and Selected LGU Staff
On September 18-19, 2025, a comprehensive Training on Basic Filipino Sign Language was held at the Mgrand Royale Resort, Catbalogan City. The event was attended by PWD Focals, the PDAO President, and selected staff from the Local Government Units (LGUs), with the aim to foster better communication and understanding of the needs of the Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the community.
Objectives of the Training:

Promote Inclusivity: To ensure that PWDs are empowered through the ability to communicate with various members of the community.

Build Awareness: To educate LGU staff and community focal persons on the importance of accessibility and communication for PWDs.

Enhance Skills: To equip participants with the basic skills in Filipino Sign Language, enhancing their capacity to assist and engage with the PWD sector effectively.

Strengthen Collaboration: To strengthen partnerships between local government units, PDAO, and PWDs in ensuring equal access and opportunities for all.
The training was an insightful and empowering experience for everyone involved, as it reinforced the importance of accessibility, inclusivity, and active support for our PWD community.
