March 27, 2026 — In line with the Celebration of Fire Prevention Month, the Catbalogan City District Jail Personnel led by SJO3 Gerberto D Maquidato actively participated the Tree Planting Activity held at Brgy. San Vicente, Catbalogan City, Samar.

The said event was successfully conducted in partnership with CENRO Catbalogan together with other agencies coming from Catbalogan City Fire Station, AFSLAI and CDRRMO Catbalogan, REACT Hamorawon and Local Government Unit of Catbalogan.

This activity was made possible through the supervision of 𝐉𝐒𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐓 𝐑𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐅 𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐎𝐍, 𝐃𝐒𝐂, 𝐉𝐃, Regional Director of the Jail Bureau and the leadership of 𝐉𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐓 𝐆𝐔𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐑 𝐀 𝐆𝐀𝐃𝐎𝐍𝐆, Jail Warden of Catbalogan City District Jail.

Together, we create a positive environment where we focus on improving biodiversity, mitigating climate change and improving the quality of life beyond the walls and the community as a whole.

March 26, 2026 — The Catbalogan City District Jail under the guidance of 𝐉𝐒𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐓 𝐑𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐅 𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐎𝐍, 𝐃𝐒𝐂, 𝐉𝐃, Regional Director of the Jail Bureau and the leadership of 𝐉𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐓 𝐆𝐔𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐑 𝐀 𝐆𝐀𝐃𝐎𝐍𝐆, Jail Warden, conducted a Joint Greyhound Operation partnered by the Barangay Local Government Unit of Catbalogan City, Samar.

The joint operation actively participated by the Officials of Barangay Lagundi led by Hon. Mark Kim T. Arraz, Chairman, along with respective Councilors and Barangay Security Officers.

The said operation successfully carried out, yielding negative results, with no illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia or other contraband found within the jail facility.

This activity underscores the continuous commitment of BJMP and BLGU to uphold discipline, ensure public's safety and maintain a secure and drug-free environment inside jail facility.

March 24, 2026 — The Catbalogan City District Jail under the guidance of 𝐉𝐒𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐓 𝐑𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐅 𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐎𝐍, 𝐃𝐒𝐂, 𝐉𝐃, Regional Director of the Jail Bureau and the leadership of 𝐉𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐓 𝐆𝐔𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐑 𝐀 𝐆𝐀𝐃𝐎𝐍𝐆, Jail Warden, personnel from this jail unit conducted the distribution of Information and Education Communication pertaining to E.O. 70 NTF-ELCAC and Anti-Illegal Drugs Campaign at Brgy. 7, Imelda Park Catbalogan City, Samar.

This strategic approach acts as a tool in engaging community to achieve inclusive and sustainable peace through distribution of flyers about National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) and Anti-Illegal Drugs Campaign.

Arnold V. Tan, Vice-Governor, Samar.

The courtesy call visit serves as establishment of linkages to solidify the alliance between the Provincial Government of Samar and the Jail Bureau while enhancing collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening a sustainable partnership.

March 23, 2026 — The Catbalogan City District Jail under the guidance of 𝐉𝐒𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐓 𝐑𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐅 𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐎𝐍, 𝐃𝐒𝐂, 𝐉𝐃, Regional Director of the Jail Bureau and the leadership of 𝐉𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐓 𝐆𝐔𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐑 𝐀 𝐆𝐀𝐃𝐎𝐍𝐆, Jail Warden, hosted an event about Fire Safety Prevention conducted by the personnel of Catbalogan City Fire Station.

The event was led by SFO1 Matilla along with FO2 Tan, FO2 Quitalig, FO2 Rosello, FO1 Gutierrez, FO1 Dacles and FO1 Nicolas. The activity highlighted the Fire Safety Prevention Measures and the Proper Use of Fire Extinguisher. Moreover, selected PDL experienced hands-on demonstration in dealing this kind of screnario by following the P.A.S.S Method which they learned from the resource speakers.

Through this initiative and collaboration, enhances the awareness of the PDL which they can use in the future protecting their lives and contributing safety in the community.

Elvira Babalcon, Municipal Mayor of Paranas, Samar

The courtesy visit highlighted key development plans and collaborative initiatives to strengthen coordination and reaffirm the commitment to sustained partnership between the Local Government Unit of Paranas and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.

Through unified efforts, both offices continue to promote public safety, protection services, humane safekeeping, and effective jail management—within the community and beyond jail walls.

In celebration of the 67th Public Library Day, a meaningful two-day storytelling activity was successfully conducted through the initiative of JO2 Catherine Gagatiga, Welfare and Development Officer, in collaboration with the Samar Provincial Library (SPL) through Mr. Benedicto A Reyes, and with the full support of our Jail Warden.

More than just storytelling, this activity served as a psychosocial initiative designed especially for parent Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL). It created a space where parents could reconnect with their children through shared stories, imagination, and love—reminding everyone that even within confinement, family bonds remain strong and significant.

This initiative also reflects the dedication of JO2 Gagatiga in championing meaningful welfare programs, embodying the true essence of Women’s Month—strength and compassion in creating positive change within the lives of PDL and their families.

The activity was made even more special with the generous support of our Jail Warden, who provided candies for the children, and the Samar Provincial Library for providing snacks, bringing smiles and added joy to the experience.

Through collaboration, compassion, and commitment, we continue to build programs that restore hope, strengthen families, and uplift lives.

March 18, 2026 | Under the supervision of 𝐉𝐒𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐓 𝐑𝐈𝐋𝐋 𝐅 𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐎𝐍, 𝐃𝐒𝐂, 𝐉𝐃, Regional Director of the Jail Bureau and the leadership of 𝐉𝐒𝐔𝐏𝐓 𝐆𝐔𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐑 𝐀 𝐆𝐀𝐃𝐎𝐍𝐆, Jail Warden of Catbalogan City District Jail and concurrent Provincial Jail Administrator of Samar, conducted Jail and Rank Inspection at Calbayog City District Jail, Calbayog City, Samar.

The said activity intensifies Jail Security through checking of the current status and condition of the jail facility, inspection to the assigned jail personnel, addressing jail-related concerns and issues as well as reiterating jail policies for continued compliance.

This proceeding underscores an ongoing commitment to ensuring facility security, welfare measures, and professionalism among jail officers.

March 13, 2026 - Under the leadership of JSSUPT RILL F SONON, DSC, JD, Regional Director of BJMPRO VIII, and the supervision of JSUPT GUSSER A GADONG, Jail Warden, the Catbalogan City District Jail actively participated the Fire Road Show 2026 conducted by Catbalogan City Fire Station.

The said activity was attended and supported coming from different agencies including REACT, Philippine Red Cross and Fil-Chi Fire Volunteer. Various activities were showcased including fire safety and emergency preparedness, rappelling and emergency response.

The BJMP-Catbalogan City District Jail extends its gratitude for giving the chance to showcase the handmade products by the PDLs.

We remain dedicated to enhancing community preparedness and fostering resilience.
