ICYMI || INKED ROOTS: Ex-Pub Chief Clinches Ibabao Writers' Workshop Slot
Former The Torch Editor-in-Chief Lheianne Ghie T. Dalmacion has been named one of the 15 fellows for the 4th Ibabao Writers’ Workshop, securing a slot in the Creative Nonfiction in English category.
Representing Catarman, Dalmacion joins a select group of emerging local writers chosen from across Northern Samar.
The Ibabao Writers' Workshop operates as a government-funded initiative aimed at developing grassroots writing talent among Nortehanons.
Through targeted mentorship and panel critiques, the program builds up a body of regional literature across multiple languages, including Ninorte Samarnon, Cebuano, Filipino, and English.
This year’s workshop adopts the theme “Pagkamapanumbalikon: Pagiging Marig-on sa Butnga san Kataragman,” pushing participants to tackle memory, local identity, and community resilience in their manuscripts.
Dalmacion earned his placement following a competitive screening of literary entries from various municipalities in the province.
The fellows will gather for a four-day residential workshop from June 8 to 11, 2026, at the Royal Palm Hotel in Pambujan, Northern Samar.
Throughout the event, the writers will undergo intensive manuscript reviews and craft discussions led by a panel of established local authors.
