INTERNATIONAL STUDY TOUR: WELFARE EXCHANGE PROGRAM FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITY

Our PDAO team visited Matsuyama, Japan for a 10-day Study Tour to learn about their advanced and inclusive programs for persons with disabilities.

Throughout our visit, we explored various facilities such as the Matsuyama Municipality PWD Department, Friendly Village (Strawberry House), Tenshi-en Support Program, Nico-Nicola, Mibu-Daini Primary School, Minara Special Support School, and the Regional Consultation Center for PWDs.

We witnessed Japan’s holistic approach—from financial assistance and insurance systems to livelihood training, special education, early childhood support, accessible mapping, and high-tech communication tools for PWDs.

We also enjoyed interacting with students, teaching them Filipino games and Tagalog words, and learning how teachers integrate children with disabilities in regular classrooms.

The experience was inspiring and eye-opening. Matsuyama’s compassion, efficiency, and inclusivity give us hope and direction as we continue building stronger programs in Carmona.

We look forward to applying these lessons to help our persons with disabilities become more independent, empowered, and successful.

3RD LOCAL IT CHALLENGE FOR YOUTH WITH DISABILITIES
March 8, 15, 22, 2025 at RIS Mabuhay Tech4Ed Center

The Microsoft Office Training for Youth with Disabilities, organized in collaboration with the Information Technology Department and the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT) Calabarzon, aimed to equip young individuals with disabilities with the necessary skills to use Microsoft Office tools effectively. The event was part of the Local IT Challenge, a program designed to bridge the digital divide for youth with disabilities, providing them with a solid foundation in IT to help improve their employability and participation in the digital economy.

ORIENTATION AND CREATION OF WOMEN WITH DISABILITIES ORGANIZATION IN CITY OF CARMONA

A pleasing initiative for National Women's Month. The program was significant step toward empowering women with disabilities in City of Carmona, Cavite. The orientation provided key information, with Ms. Jenalyn Papango's discussion on the Magna Carta for Women being particularly valuable in raising awareness about rights and support systems.

The introduction of the Women's Group was discussed by Ms. Rosebelle Mercurio, City Dept. Head is an exciting development. Four women were appointed to be the leader of the group.

The seminar training on Family Development Sessions was very impactful and well-organized event aimed at supporting persons with disabilities (PWDs) and raising awareness among their families and caregivers.

That's such an inspiring achievement for Hanah Marie Estepa! Overcoming sight disability to win 3rd place in Gintong Himig Gintong Tinig is truly remarkable. Her determination and talent are a testament to the power of resilience. The support from the Persons with Disability Affairs Office makes it even more special, highlighting how important encouragement and opportunity are for individuals with disabilities.
Kudos to Hanah and your family behind her success!
