CARMEN, Surigao del Sur โ€“ The 36th Infantry (Valor) Battalion, 4th Infantry (Diamond) Division, Philippine Army, conducted a Joint Change of Company Command and Change of Chief of Office Ceremony on May 25, 2026, at Headquarters 36IB, Barangay Puyat, Carmen, Surigao del Sur. The ceremony was presided over by LTC JOSELITO B ANTE JR (INF) PA, Battalion Commander.

The ceremony marked the formal turnover of command of the Headquarters and Headquarters Service Company (HHSC) from CPT ROBERT JAMES V ESPRESCION (INF) PA to CPT REYNALDO L PAJARITO (INF) PA, and Charlie Company from CPT ALAN PAIT (INF) PA to 1LT CHARITA A IGDALINO (FS) PA. Likewise, CPT PAIT formally assumed the position of Battalion Operations Officer (S3), replacing CPT ARVEN A OQUENDO (INF) PA.

CPT OQUENDO served as the Battalion Operations Officer for three (3) years and five (5) months, while CPT ESPRESCION served as the Headquarters Commandant for two (2) years and six (6) months.

Meanwhile, CPT PAIT served as the Company Commander of Charlie Company for three (3) years. Having steered their respective offices through extended tenures, these officers significantly contributed to the sustained operational gains and mission accomplishment of the 36th Infantry Battalion. Their long-standing service underscores the profound importance of this turnover ceremony; it serves not only as a institutional tribute to their years of dedicated leadership but also as a critical mechanism for continuity. By formally passing the mantle, the ceremony ensures that the valuable institutional memory and tactical momentum built by these officers during their multi-year tenures are seamlessly transferred to their successors, maintaining the battalion's operational readiness and steadfast dedication to duty.

In his keynote address, LTC ANTE commended the outgoing officersand awarded them with command plaques for their stellar, dedicated service, and warmly welcomed the incoming leaders as they assumed their new mantles of responsibility within the battalion. He profoundly emphasized that effective military leadership is not merely defined by authority, but is fundamentally anchored on the bedrock pillars of integrity, discipline, and courage. LTC ANTE challenged the new leaders to let these core values guide their decisions, ensuring a balanced approach to command that prioritizes aggressive commitment to mission accomplishment while simultaneously safeguarding troop welfareโ€”affirming that a battalion's ultimate success relies on both operational excellence and the well-being of its troops.

The activity highlighted the battalionโ€™s continued commitment to professionalism, leadership development, and operational excellence in serving the people and securing the land.
