"Oras Para Kay Lolo at Lola"- A gift giving initiative in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of DOJ-PPA
Some gifts are wrapped in paper, while others are wrapped in presence, compassion, and sincere hearts. As part of the 50th Golden Anniversary celebration of the Department of Justice – Parole and Probation Administration, the Carcar City Parole and Probation Office had the privilege of spending a meaningful day with the beloved residents of Hospicio de San Jose. Through songs, laughter, heartfelt conversations, and simple moments shared together, we were reminded that sometimes the greatest gift we can offer is letting someone know they are seen, remembered, and valued. We also brought essential items to help make their stay a little more comfortable—generous donations made possible through the kindness of our dedicated Volunteer Probation Assistants, who willingly took time from their busy schedules to be with us, and through the heartfelt contributions of our own officers. No matter how modest these offerings may seem, we believe they carry a message far greater than their value: that our elderly are never forgotten and will always have a place in our hearts.
As we celebrate five decades of the DOJ-PPA's commitment to transforming lives through community-based corrections, we are reminded that rehabilitation is rooted in compassion, and that true public service reaches beyond the walls of our offices. It extends to every hand we hold, every life we touch, and every soul we choose to remember. This activity reflects our enduring commitment not only to the rehabilitation and reintegration of our clients but also to building communities where kindness is lived, shared, and multiplied. After all, a community grows stronger when it embraces its most vulnerable, and hope shines brightest when it is shared. As we mark this milestone, may we continue to serve with humility, lead with compassion, and prove that even the smallest acts of generosity can leave the deepest imprint on another person's heart.
