STRENGTHENING LEADERSHIP AND SUSTAINING MISSION READINESS

On 09 April 2026, The 1st Tank (MASIKAN) Battalion (P), under the leadership of LTC LOURDES I CLAVERIA ARM (GSC) PA recently welcomed BRIGADIER GENERAL RONEL REYES MANALO PA, commander of the Armor (PAMBATO) Division, Philippine Army who personally engaged with troops to assess the unit’s admin and operational readiness. The visit also featured a detailed briefing during which essential updates, significant achievements, and ongoing programs were presented.

The Division Commander underscored several key reminders and directives. He emphasized the importance of adhering to the chain of command, “We are owned by the government and surrendered our rights and privileges sa service…”. noting that personnel, as members of the Armed Forces, are bound by duty and have relinquished certain personal privileges. In line with this, troops were strongly encouraged to refrain from expressing grievances or opinions on national/political issues through social media and instead utilize proper channels. Open communication is assured through the established hierarchy from first sergeants and platoon leaders to company commanders, battalion staff, and the battalion commander who remain accessible to address concerns.

The Commander also called on personnel to revisit their personal scorecards, stressing the need to maintain balance across family life, professional growth, financial stability, environmental responsibility, and physical health.

He also reinforced the continued practice of addressing superiors with “Sir” or “Ma’am” as a reflection of respect, discipline, and the enduring values upheld within the Armor Division.

More importantly, BGEN MANALO took time to speak directly with the Masikan Troopers, sharing his guidance, vision, and expectations. He emphasized the importance of discipline, professionalism, and unwavering dedication in carrying out the unit’s mandate.

The visit served not only as a platform for assessment but also as a morale booster for the troops, reaffirming the leadership’s support and confidence in their capabilities.

The 1st Tank (MASIKAN) Battalion remains steadfast in its commitment to excellence and mission accomplishment, ready to respond to any challenge in service of the nation.

On 25 March 2026, the 1st Tank (MASIKAN) Battalion (P), Armor (PAMBATO) Division, Philippine Army proudly conducted the Donning of Unit Patches for its newly assigned officers and enlisted personnel, followed by the Pinning of Ranks for its newly promoted troops at the MPA, 14th Tank (Baskog) Company.

The ceremony was presided over by LTC LOURDES I CLAVERIA ARM (GSC) PA, Acting Commanding Officer of the unit. The activity was a powerful reminder that every patch worn and every rank earned carries a story of sacrifice, commitment, and excellence.

For the new members of the MASIKAN family, the unit patch symbolizes formal incorporation and a shared mission. For the promoted personnel, their new rank stands as proof of their dedication, hard work, and readiness to take on greater responsibility.

In her message, LTC CLAVERIA underscored the significance of the occasion:

"Today, we gather to recognize two important milestones within our unit—the donning of unit patch to our newly reported personnel and the donning of ranks to the promoted personnel. Both moments represent growth: one is the beginning of a new chapter, and the other is the result of hard work, dedication, and proven capability. To our new personnel, welcome to the team. And to our newly promoted troops, congratulations on earning the trust and responsibility that come with your new rank. This is a proud moment for all of you, and for the unit as well."

MASIKAN: 4 YEARS OF ARMOR PRIDE

With the theme “Shaped by Training. Defined by Excellence. Four Years of Armor Pride.”, the 1st Tank (MASIKAN) Battalion (P) proudly celebrated its 4th Reactivation Anniversary on 06 March 2026 at the Multi-Purpose Area (MPA), 1st Tank Battalion, Camp O’Donnell, Capas, Tarlac. The event was spearheaded by COL REYNALDO L MINA ARM (GSC) PA, Battalion Commander of the unit.

The celebration began with a Thanksgiving Mass, offering gratitude for the continued strength, guidance, and accomplishments of the battalion throughout the years. This was followed by the Blessing of Facility at the 12th Tank Company, symbolizing the unit’s continuing growth and unwavering commitment to operational readiness and mission capability.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the Donning of Ranks Ceremony for the newly promoted Captains of the battalion — CPT MIA ANGELA FLORES (ARM) PA and CPT RODEL C INGCO (ARM) PA — recognizing their dedication, leadership, and steadfast commitment to the service of the nation. The ceremony was graced by BGEN RONEL R MANALO PA, Commander, Armor Division, Philippine Army, who served as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.

In his message, COL MINA emphasized the significance of the battalion’s role in the evolving defense landscape, stating:
“The birth of Tank Battalion speaks of resiliency and adaptation to the current demands of defense. As we transition towards the new approach, it is just in high time that our assets and firepower be of its upgrade.

Meanwhile, BGEN MANALO highlighted the deeper meaning behind the reactivation of the unit, emphasizing that the battalion’s return is a product of vision and deliberate leadership. He shared:
“The rebuilding of 1st Tank is never accidental. It is the result of the previous Armor Commanders’ deliberate leadership, persistent effort, and a clear vision of what the Armor future force must become. The pursuit for reactivation was not merely administrative. It was a statement of intent—a commitment that the Armor Division remains relevant, responsive, and ready.”

The celebration concluded with a Socials Night, where officers, troops, and distinguished guests gathered to commemorate the battalion’s milestones and strengthen the bond of camaraderie that defines the MASIKAN spirit.

As the 1st Tank (MASIKAN) Battalion marks four years since its reactivation, it continues to stand strong—disciplined by training, driven by excellence, and united in Armor Pride—steadfast in fulfilling its mission and commitment in service to the Filipino people and the nation.

MASIKAN STRONG: RUNNING TOWARDS 4 YEARS OF SERVICE AND EXCELLENCE

In line with the celebration of its 4th Reactivation Anniversary, the 1st Tank (MASIKAN) Battalion (P), Armor Division, Philippine Army successfully conducted the MASIKAN Anniversary Run on 03 March 2026 inside Camp O'Donnell, Brgy. Sta. Lucia, Capas, Tarlac.

The activity was spearheaded by COL REYNALDO L MINA ARM (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of the unit, and was actively participated in by the personnel of ARMSCOR Tarlac, showcasing a strong partnership between the military and its valued stakeholders.

More than a simple run, the event symbolized unity, resilience, and the relentless spirit that has defined the battalion since its reactivation four years ago. Every stride taken within the grounds of Camp O’Donnell reflected MASIKAN’s enduring commitment to operational readiness, teamwork, and excellence in service to the Filipino people.

As the battalion marks another milestone, the MASIKAN troopers continue to move forward with strength, discipline, and an unbreakable bond—proving that after four years, the mission remains clear and the spirit burns stronger than ever.

MASIKAN CARES: COMPASSION IN ACTION

Strength is not only measured on the battlefield — it is also shown in the heart to serve.

As part of its Pre-Anniversary Celebration and marking its first activity of the year, the 1st Tank (MASIKAN) Battalion (Probational), Armor Division, Philippine Army conducted a meaningful Outreach Program on 21 February 2026 for the Indigenous People of Sitio Taliktik, Brgy. Sta. Juliana, Capas, Tarlac.

In partnership with Bayambang KnightOwls, Seven Dwarfs Boutique, and Zhamboy Pharmacy of Bayambang, Pangasinan, the initiative delivered essential assistance, shared blessings, and most importantly, brought hope and smiles to the community.

The 1st Tank (MASIKAN) Battalion under the leadership of COL. REYNALDO L MINA ARM (GSC) PA extended its mission beyond the battlefield by conducting a heartfelt outreach activity for the Indigenous community of Sitio Taliktik. The unit spearheaded a feeding program and distributed slippers, grocery packs, toys, and dental kits to a total of 200 Indigenous People, In coordination with Mr. Sonny Galang, Community Chieftain. The activity reflected the Battalion’s unwavering commitment to uplift lives, strengthen community ties, and embody the true essence of soldiering—protecting the nation while caring for its people. Through unity, generosity, and shared purpose, MASIKAN Troopers once again proved that service with honor goes hand in hand with service from the heart.

This outreach is a testament that the strength of a unit is not only defined by its armored vehicles and tactical capabilities, but by its compassion, unity, sincerity and dedication to uplift those in need. Through collective effort and shared advocacy, the MASIKAN Troopers proved that service to the nation goes beyond security—it extends to empowering communities and touching lives.

The ceremony was spearheaded by MAJ GENERAL PEDRO C BALISI JR PA, Division Commander, Armor Division, reaffirming the Division’s steadfast commitment to recognizing merit and strengthening leadership within the ranks.

Among those formally pinned were COL REYNALDO L MINA ARM (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer of the 1st Tank (MASIKAN) Battalion, and the newly promoted Sergeant Major, SMS Mario T Lopez (OS) PA, whose achievements stand as a testament to discipline, professionalism, and unwavering service to the nation.
