CANTILAN, Surigao del SurโThe Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) conducted a Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) Orientation for 26 student beneficiaries on June 1, 2026, at the Tourism Building, Cantilan, SDS to prepare them for their deployment under the government's youth employment program.
The orientation was facilitated by Junver Clyde Lastra of DOLE Surigao del Sur, headed by Field Office Head Genebelle Bal, in coordination with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of the Local Government Unit of Cantilan.
During the activity, beneficiaries were briefed on the program's guidelines, benefits, responsibilities, and workplace expectations before their deployment to various offices for a 20-day employment period.
The activity was implemented under the Gender and Development (GAD) Program with the support of the Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) Office headed by Kenneth Yparraguirre.
The SPES Program provides temporary employment opportunities to qualified students, enabling them to earn income while pursuing their education.
The Local Government Unit of Cantilan, under the leadership of Mayor Philip A. Pichay, continues to support initiatives that promote youth development and employment. The LGU also expressed its appreciation to DOLE for its continued partnership in implementing the SPES Program in the municipality.
