PNP CANTILAN ARRESTS SUSPECT, SEIZES OVER 33 GRAMS OF SUSPECTED SHABU IN SEARCH WARRANT OPERATION
CANTILAN, SURIGAO DEL SUR — September 4, 2026 — Personnel of the Cantilan Municipal Police Station (MPS), led by PLT EMMANUEL C COSMIANO, DCOP under the supervision of PCPT JOVIE C ALNGOG, ACOP, in coordination with the Regional Intelligence Division 13 (RID-13), conducted an anti-illegal drug operation through the implementation of Search Warrant resulting in the apprehension of a 49-year-old male suspect known by the alias “Longkoy.”
The operation was conducted at approximately 11:05 AM on September 4, 2026, inside the residence of the subject located at Purok 5, Barangay Linintian, Cantilan, Surigao del Sur. The operation was carried out pursuant to the Target Intelligence Packet (TIP) and the search warrant issued on August 28, 2026, by Presiding Judge, Regional Trial Court, Eleventh Judicial Region, Cantilan, Surigao del Sur.
The operation was properly coordinated with the Barangay Officials of Barangay Linintian, represented by Hon. Darwin Joseph O. Arienza, and was witnessed by Media Representative Germanalex P. Hilario, who were present during the conduct of the search.
During the lawful search of the premises, police operatives recovered and confiscated several pieces of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu”, with a total estimated weight of 33.77 grams and an estimated value of PHP 229,636.00, together with several non-drug pieces of evidence, including an empty cigarette box, improvised tooter, aluminum foil, and lighter.
The seized items were properly marked, inventoried, and photographed in the presence of the arrested suspect, Barangay Official, and Media Representative, in accordance with existing procedures.
The arrested suspect was informed of his constitutional rights under the Miranda Doctrine and the provisions of the Anti-Torture Act, in a language known to and understood by him.
“We assure the people of Cantilan that your police station will continue to intensify our intelligence-driven operations against illegal drugs and other criminal activities. We encourage our community members to remain vigilant and to report any information that may help prevent the proliferation of illegal drugs in our barangays. Your cooperation and support are vital in maintaining a safe, peaceful, and drug-free community. Rest assured that we will perform our duties with professionalism, respect for human rights, and strict adherence to the rule of law.” PCPT ALNGOG said.
PCPT ALNGOG also expressed his sincere appreciation to Hon. Philip A. Pichay, Mayor of Cantilan, for his continued support and assistance to the Cantilan MPS in its efforts to maintain peace and order and combat illegal drugs and other criminal activities in the municipality.
The confiscated drug evidence will be submitted to the appropriate forensic laboratory for qualitative and quantitative examination, while the arrested suspect will be subjected to proper inquest proceedings for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as applicable.
