In close coordination with our law enforcement partners, the CSWDO through Mr. Earl L. Vergara, Social Welfare Officer III, together with the Canlaon CPS led by PLTCOL Florendo L. Fajardo, OIC, has been implementing the citywide curfew for minors. This coordinated effort underscores our commitment to child protection and the promotion of safety and order within the community.

Reminder: Under City Ordinance No. 13, S. 2024, the curfew for minors begins at 10:00 PM.
Let us continue working together to ensure the welfare and safety of every child in Canlaon City.

In preparation for Tropical Depression Verbena , the CSWDO staff, together with Mrs. Lea E. Contreras, Camp Coordinator, and Mr. Earl L. Vergara, Assistant Camp Coordinator, conducted an emergency meeting with Camp Management Teams (CMT) and Emergency Operation Center (EOC) personnel. The meeting focused on ensuring proper coordination of camp concerns, data reporting, prepositioning of family food packs to all barangays, and close coordination with BDRRM elites and barangay officials.

As of today, Canlaon City is placed under Signal No. 1, and pre-emptive evacuation of families living near flood-prone and landslide-prone areas was implemented to ensure and prioritize their safety.

𝗗𝗦𝗪𝗗 𝗗𝗥𝗖𝗖 𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗘𝗗 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝘆𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗻 “𝗧𝗶𝗻𝗼”

The Disaster Response Command Center (DRCC) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has raised its alert status to RED effective 8:00 AM today, 03 November 2025, in accordance with NDRRMC Memorandum No. 308, s. 2025.

The alert escalation is in response to Typhoon “Tino”, currently located east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar, which may pass close to or make landfall over Eastern Samar, Leyte, or Dinagat Islands by midnight or early morning Tuesday (04 November).

The DSWD, through the DRCC, continues to closely monitor the situation and coordinate with concerned national agencies, local government units (LGUs), and Field Offices to ensure a timely and well-coordinated response in potentially affected areas.

All Field Offices have been placed on alert for the immediate mobilization of Quick Response Teams (QRTs), activation of Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) operations, provision of Food and Non-Food Items (FNIs), and implementation of protection measures for Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). Disaster response vehicles and equipment are also on standby to ensure the rapid and sustained delivery of assistance as needed.

🏠 Household Typhoon Preparedness Checklist

A practical guide for families to stay safe and ready before, during, and after a typhoon.

🌪️ 1. BEFORE THE TYPHOON (Preparation Stage)

A. Emergency Plan

✅ Know your evacuation routes and the nearest evacuation center.
✅ Agree on a family meeting point in case members get separated.
✅ Assign roles — who secures the roof, who handles documents, who checks on elderly or pets.
✅ Save emergency contacts in all phones: LGU, barangay, MDRRMO, BFP, PNP, hospitals, relatives.

B. Home & Property

✅ Check your roof, gutters, and walls — fix loose sheets, nails, or leaks.
✅ Trim trees and secure outdoor items like pots, signage, and clotheslines.
✅ Unplug appliances and move valuables to higher ground.
✅ Prepare sandbags if your area floods easily.
✅ Turn off LPG tanks properly and store them in a safe dry place.

C. Essential Supplies (for at least 3–5 days)

💧 Water 3–5 liters per person per day (for drinking, hygiene)
🥫 Food Ready-to-eat canned goods, rice, instant noodles, biscuits, baby food
🍳 Cooking Small LPG or butane stove, matches/lighter
🔦 Lighting Flashlights, candles, extra batteries, rechargeable lamps
🔋 Power Fully charged power banks, radios (battery-operated)
🧼 Hygiene Soap, alcohol, tissue, sanitary pads, toothbrushes, masks
👕 Clothing Warm clothes, raincoats, extra blankets, slippers
⛑️ First Aid Bandages, antiseptic, paracetamol, maintenance meds, thermometer

📻 DURING THE TYPHOON

✅ Stay indoors and keep away from windows.
✅ Listen to verified news sources or LGU text alerts.
✅ Switch off power if flooding starts.
✅ Avoid using candles near flammable materials.
✅ Do not cross flooded roads.
✅ Evacuate early when advised by authorities.

🌤️ AFTER THE TYPHOON
✅ Wait for official clearance before returning home.
✅ Beware of downed power lines, debris, and landslides.
✅ Boil drinking water before consumption.
✅ Document damage for insurance or LGU assistance.
✅ Check on neighbors and clean up safely.
