Happy Public Library day! 🤎📚

𝟲𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

In accordance with Proclamation No. 563, s. 1959, Public Library Day is celebrated every March 9. The , together with public libraries nationwide, leads the celebration to highlight the important role of public libraries in promoting knowledge, literacy, and lifelong learning. This year’s celebration of Public Library Day is a milestone in our shared commitment to lifelong learning for every Filipino. As we move into the second year of our three-year roadmap, we are shifting from the
Foundation Phase (2025) to the Action Phase (2026).

In 2025, our focus was on the “how”, guiding LGUs to set up their public libraries and affiliate with the National Library of the Philippines (NLP) for technical support. This year, we highlight the “why.” We want to make it clear that Philippine public libraries are more than quiet spaces with books. They are dynamic, community- building hubs, “as living blueprints” that strengthen learning, connection, and empowerment in every community.

Here is the official poster for the 67th Public Library Day. Public libraries are encouraged to download and
print the poster using the editable version on Canva and display it prominently in their respective libraries.

📢✨ Presenting the Official Poster of the 𝟯𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗟𝗶𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 (𝗟𝗜𝗦𝗠 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱) with the theme, “LACE-UP: Libraries – A Hub for Cultural Exploration and Unity Through Partnership.” 🎉

🎨 Poster design by: Pepot Atienza, a multidisciplined artist specializing in kids’ content and illustration.

The vibrant and festive design draws inspiration from the spirit of the Filipino Fiesta, with its bold colors and cultural elements symbolizing unity and joy.

✨ Key inspirations include:
🎠 The colorful Taka horses of Paete, Laguna with their hand-painted floral details
🌸 The arangyas of Lucban’s Pahiyas Festival
🎭 The giant papier-mâché figures from Angono’s Higantes Festival
😷 The ornate masks from Bacolod’s MassKara Festival

Traditional banderitas, a festive palo sebo pole, coconut leaves, and a banana tree tie together the lively fiesta imagery, set against a rich Filipino textile backdrop. A flowing peach ribbon unites all these elements, echoing the theme of LACE-UP—partnership and cultural connection.

At the heart of the composition are bookshelves and book-inspired visuals, celebrating libraries as vital spaces for knowledge, education, and cultural exploration. 📚

LIBRARY NEWS 📚

CPSU Candoni Library and select faculty members attended earlier today the ongoing campus wide book fair held at the University Library, Main Campus. Through the initiative of book suppliers and the library, the event was made possible wherein faculty and students get to browse, look through, and choose possible titles relevant to their course and studies.

This activity is in line with the library’s efforts of increasing the current collection to serve the students needs, as well as comply with government requirements for academic excellence.

LIBRARY IN ACTION 📚

The CPSU Candoni Library facilitated over the ceremonial signing and handing over of donated books to the adopted library of Salarongon Elementary School. Represented by Ms. Grace Tacuel, Teacher-in-Charge, together with Ms. Grace Bacugan, Teacher I, the far-flung primary school received a total of 200+ books from CPSU-Candoni Library.

Ms. Ma. Socorro Llamas, Supply Officer, represented the Central Philippines State University administration to oversee the smooth turnover, witnessed by Candoni Campus Administrator, Ms. Armie Sheila Calago, Ms. Jan Mariel A. Duyo, Campus librarian, and Mr. Nonoy Agui, accountant representative from the Commission on Audit.

This collaboration would not have been possible without the initiative and communication of the BEED Faculty, Ms. Elnie Ricaplaza, and former Campus Administrator, Mr. Chim Misajon.

CPSU Candoni takes pride in reaching out to partners in education, wholly committed in delivering academic aid where it is most needed, ensuring the continuation of the mission of quality education for all. 💚💛
