DOST-PCHRD marked its 44th Anniversary at Acacia Hotel Manila, highlighting a vision for the future of healthcare grounded in innovation and inclusivity. In her keynote, Ms. Astrid Dita of the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change emphasized the promise of P4 medicineโ€”healthcare that anticipates rather than reacts, targets rather than guesses, and includes rather than excludes. The celebration underscored the โ€œFour Futures of Healthโ€ framework, driving forward research initiatives that aim to make proactive and people-centered healthcare more accessible to every Filipino.

Hotel Alejandro- The Eastern Visayas Health Research and Development Consortium (EVHRDC), in line with its goal to strengthen and increase biotechnology research initiatives in the region, is currently conducting a Research Proposal Enhancement Workshop spearheaded by the EVHRDC Research Management Committee (RMC) at Hotel Alejandro, Tacloban City.

The primary aim of the workshop is to assist researchers in enhancing and expanding their capsule proposals into full, detailed research proposals, ensuring that these meet the required scientific, technical, and funding standards for further evaluation and possible funding support.

Serving as research consultants for this activity are experts from the Metro Manila Health Research and Development Consortium (MMHRDC), namely Ms. Ma. Grace C. Rosales and Dr. Jose Ronilo G. Juangco of the Philippine Orthopedic Center, and Mr. Napoleon R. Caballero of Metropolitan Medical Center.

Research teams from Visayas State University, University of the Philippinesโ€“Tacloban, Samar State University, University of Eastern Philippines, and Eastern Visayas State Universityโ€“Ormoc Campus presented their detailed biotechnology research proposals before the panel. The panel included the invited consultants as well as members of the EVHRDC Research Management Committee (RMC).
Recommendations and technical inputs were provided to further refine and strengthen the proposals.

Following the workshop, the research teams will submit their revised detailed proposals, which will subsequently undergo evaluation by the EVHRDC Technical Review Board (TRB).

EVHRDC Convenes Stakeholdersโ€™ Forum on Health Policy Issues
Hotel de Fides, Tacloban City | December 9, 2025

The Eastern Visayas Health Research and Development Consortium (EVHRDC) formally opened the Stakeholdersโ€™ Forum: Policy Dialogue on Health Issues today, December 9, 2025, at Hotel de Fides, Tacloban City. The activity brings together key representatives from the Department of Health, local government units, public and private hospitals, higher education institutions, and partner agencies to strengthen evidence-informed policymaking in the region.

The forum features the presentation of policy briefs developed by EVHRDC researchers and project teams, addressing priority health issues in Eastern Visayas. Among the topics highlighted are immunization performance and coverage, infection-control and safety standards in health facilities, ICT competencies of healthcare workers, emergency rescue and response mechanisms, and other emerging regional health concerns.

Following the presentations, a policy dialogue session and panel discussion will be held to refine recommendations and identify strategies for integrating research evidence into local health programs and governance frameworks. This initiative underscores EVHRDCโ€™s mandate to promote research utilization and foster collaborative action among institutions involved in health service delivery, research, and policy development.

EVHRDC extends its appreciation to all participating agencies, panel reactors, and health research teams for their active engagement and continued support to the consortiumโ€™s efforts in advancing a responsive and evidence-based health research ecosystem in Region VIII.
