𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐏𝐘 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐋𝐃 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐊 𝐃𝐀𝐘! 📚📖
Today isn’t just about pretty bookshelves, it’s a global celebration of literacy, publishing, and the fundamental right to share stories.
Established by UNESCO in 1995, April 23rd was chosen for its deep literary significance. It marks the anniversary of the deaths of legendary authors William Shakespeare, Miguel de Cervantes, and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega.
The tradition actually has roots in Catalonia, Spain, where "The Day of the Rose" (St. George’s Day) is celebrated by giving a rose for every book sold. Today, over 100 countries join in to promote the joy of reading and to tackle the global challenge of book poverty.
