The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) Caluya, in coordination with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Philippine National Police (PNP), and Municipal Health Office (MHO), conducted a tsunami drill following a simulated strong earthquake in one of Caluya's identified high-risk barangays.

Community members actively participated in the exercise, performing the "Duck, Cover, and Hold" procedure during the earthquake simulation and proceeding in an orderly manner to their designated evacuation routes toward higher ground. The drill concluded successfully, reinforcing the community's preparedness and awareness in responding to tsunami threats. A follow-up drill is scheduled this November to sustain disaster readiness and community vigilance.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) Caluya, in coordination with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Philippine Fire Protection (PFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Municipal Health Office (MHO), and representatives from other local offices, conducted a community dialogue in Barangay Sabang one of the identified high-risk areas for tsunami threats following strong earthquakes.

The activity aimed to prepare the community for the upcoming Regional-Wide Earthquake Drill on October 23 at 3:00 PM. During the session, residents were briefed on proper actions to take during the drill, evacuation procedures, and routes leading to higher ground in case of a potential tsunami. The dialogue emphasized the importance of preparedness and community cooperation in ensuring safety and swift response during emergencies.

Students from Caluya National High School and Hininga-an Integrated School participated in a two-day Basic Life Support, Basic First Aid, and Fire Safety Orientation and Drill under the Batang Empowered and Resilient Team (BERT) Training held on October 20–21, 2025, at Caluya National High School, Caluya, Antique.

The activity was organized by the Department of Education (DepEd) – Schools Division of Antique, with support from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) Caluya and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Caluya. Participants also attended sessions on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) concepts, Adolescent Reproductive Health, and Hazard Mapping Orientation to strengthen their knowledge and preparedness in responding to various emergencies.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) Caluya, in partnership with the Municipal Health Office (MHO) Caluya, successfully conducted a Basic Life Support (BLS) and Standard First Aid Training aimed at strengthening the emergency response capabilities of local responders.

The activity served as both a refresher course for those who had undergone previous training and an introductory session for new participants. The training was facilitated by skilled instructors from the Antique Provincial Health Office (PHO) in collaboration with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Antique.

Participants were updated with the latest CPR guidelines and practiced essential life-saving techniques. They also learned and enhanced their knowledge on various first aid procedures, particularly those applicable in pre-hospital and emergency settings, such as wound management, fracture immobilization, bleeding control, and patient assessment.

This initiative aims to ensure that local responders remain competent, confident, and ready to provide immediate medical assistance during emergencies, accidents, and disasters within the municipality.

RE: 6.9 Magnitude Earthquake in Cebu September 30, 2025

The Municipality of Caluya did not experience any effects from the 6.9 magnitude earthquake in Cebu. The MDRRMC, in coordination with the Municipal Engineering Office, conducted inspections and confirmed no structural damage to buildings and facilities in the municipality.

The MDRRMC, together with partner agencies, remains on heightened monitoring and prepared to respond to any potential incidents within our area of responsibility.

Final Incident Briefing Highlights: Camp Closure, Report Standardization, and IMT Demobilization in Caluya

The Municipal Incident Management Team (IMT) of Caluya, together with partner agencies, MDRRMCs, and BDRRMCs, conducted its final incident briefing. Key discussions included weather status updates, reports from affected barangays, and the situation of affected families, with the MSWDO confirming the 100% closure of evacuation camps.

Updates also covered actions taken, planned interventions, validation of reports by the RDANA Team, and the adoption of the new NDRRMC reporting template for standardized and consolidated submissions from BDRRMCs. The session concluded with the demobilization of the ICS IMT in Caluya.

Incident Management Team Strengthens Response Measures Amid Approaching STS "OPONG"

The Incident Management Team (IMT), together with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MDRRMC) and partner agencies, convened for its 3rd Incident Briefing as Severe Tropical Storm Opong continues to approach the islands of Caluya.

During the meeting, critical updates were presented, including the latest weather forecasts, storm tracking reports, and situation updates from the affected barangays. Reports highlighted the number of families and individuals impacted, as well as those who have already been evacuated to safer areas.

The briefing also covered current response actions and adjustments to operational plans to ensure the safety and welfare of the community. Preparations for relief operations are ongoing, with food packs and essential supplies being readied for distribution to evacuees and affected households.
