The Department of Agriculture โ€“ Western Visayas through the Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo (4K) Program conducted a Training on Poultry Production and Management with Sir Cyson Altis as Resource Speaker on March 12โ€“13, 2026 at Barangay Agcalaga.

The activity aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of participants on proper poultry raising practices, including feeding management, housing, and disease prevention, to support sustainable backyard poultry production and strengthen local livelihood opportunities.

The Municipality of Calinog through the Municipal Agriculture Office joins Nationwide Simultaneous
Vaccination Drive and Municipal Anti-Rabies Kick Off conducted at Brgy. Jamin-ay, Calinog, Iloilo on March 11, 2026, marking the start of our continued commitment to protect both our community and our beloved pets from rabies.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Retired MAO Gelmina P. Cartel, OIC MAO Rosalio L. Gonzales, and RHU Representative Ney Hurtada for sharing valuable insights on rabies prevention, responsible pet ownership, and the importance of vaccination in safeguarding public health.

Our heartfelt thanks also go to Brgy. Captain Jennelyn Rizano for the warm accommodation and support in organizing this activity, as well as to all the pet owners who actively participated in ensuring the safety and well-being of their animals.

Day 6 | Semana ka Mangunguma 2026 ๐ŸŒพ

Todayโ€™s activity highlighted the participation of our valued private partners who continue to support the development of our local farmers. Representatives from Excel Foods/Philippine Foremost Milling Corp and Lakpue Drug Inc. shared valuable information and services for the agricultural sector.

One of the highlights of the day was the Lagsanay IDIK (Itlog ng Itik) training, where participants learned more about duck egg production and opportunities for livelihood in duck raising.

The event was also graced by the Extension on Wheels of the Agricultural Training Institute, bringing learning opportunities directly to our farming communities.

We extend our gratitude to our local leaders, partners, sponsors, and farmers for making this activity successful, including the exciting raffles and prizes prepared for our participants.

A productive and inspiring day for our local fish farmers!

Opening remarks and welcome addresses were delivered by Rosalio L. Gonzales, OIC Municipal Agriculturist, and James Diergos, Agritech II / Inland Fisheries Coordinator, inspired participants to continue improving their practices and livelihood.

The program featured a lecture and demonstration on Tilapia Culture, also the program was graced by Sugar Regulatory Authority (SRA) and Landbank Philippines, providing practical knowledge, technical guidance, and support. The event also showcased Calinog Barangay Kagawad (CABAKA) and Leads Agricultural Products, along with innovative solutions from Iloilo New Agri.

Adding excitement to the day were raffles and prizes generously provided by our sponsors, bringing joy and engagement to all attendees.

A heartfelt thank you to all participants, organizers, and partners for making the Inland Fisheries and CABAKA event a success in empowering our farmers and strengthening our communities!

Day 5 of Semana Ka Mangunguma kicked off with the registration of participants, followed by an engaging program led by the Rural Based Organization, highlighting the active participation of our youth and the harmony of the community in shaping modern agriculture.

Inspiring opening messages were delivered by Ngr. Baltazar J. Guman, Robelyn Wisemoro, and the program was graced by Hon. Francisco L. Calvo, Municipal Mayor, motivating everyone to continue striving for progress in farming and rural development.

The intermission number by RIC and 4H Club added color and energy, showcasing the talents and spirit of our youth. Presentations from CAHA, 4H Club, IP communities, SeedWorks, Biostadt, and UNAHCO provided valuable insights, products, and services to support our local farmers.

Bingo and Lagsanay Idik games brought fun and excitement, making the event even more memorable!

The day concluded with a closing ceremony, leaving everyone inspired and equipped to grow both their crops and their communities.
