City Mayor Raymund C. Uy, Vice Mayor Rex Daguman together with City Councilors visited the temporary evacuation center at Herman Gmeiner for the families affected by the recent fire incident at Barangay Dagum.

ProtecTEEN Program Psychosocial Healing Sessions Batch 2

The Province of Samar through the Office of Provincial Youth, Education and Sports Development Office (PYESDO) and Sirak Kabataan Province facilitated the DSWD ProtecTEEN Program: Psychosocial Healing Sessions for Adolescent Mothers and their Families held at City Health Office Conference Room, earlier. The 2-days activity was attended by the adolescent mothers with their families.

Jennesa Mae A. Magan, RSW, Adoption and Alternative Care Program Focal Person served as a Resource Speaker. CSWD Officer Donato M. Albelda, Jr., RSW together with Registered Social Workers and program implementers of the office also assisted the said activity. It is a collaborative effort of the PYDO, Province of Samar ProtecTEEN thru Program Coordinator Mr. Danny Verzosa with Sirak staff, CSWDO, City Population Office (CPO) and City Health Office (CHO).

Psychosocial Healing Sessions provides family healing and transformation sessions to help young mothers process experiences, confront stigma, and build emotional resilience.

DSWD Kits for Fire Victims in Barangay Dagum

The LGU Calbayog, through the CSWDO, requisitioned DSWD Kits (Family, Kitchen, and Sleeping) from the DSWD Region 8 Office. The kits were distributed to 34 families affected by the recent fire incident in Barangay Dagum.

CSWDO Magic 20 Unit staff, program implementers, program management staff, DSWD FO8 Project Development Officer II Francis Batula, the Community Program Coordinator, and Barangay Officials were all present and assisted with the distribution this afternoon.

Some families affected by the fire incident are now temporarily sheltered at the Herman Gmeiner Technical Vocational Training Center.

Center-based Dressmaking Training

The Productivity Skills Capability Building for Disadvantaged Women (PSCB-DW) Center Head Zusette Aquino, trainers Jeriel Salvadora, Jerelie Salvadora and staff, together with CSWDO North and South Wings Unit program implementers Mary Irfel Zafra and Zhareen Cabili facilitated the orientation on center-based dressmaking training to interested women trainees from North and South Wings barangays. This will be the first of a series of trainings to be held at the center, this year.

Bayanihan for the Families affected by the Fire Incident at Barangay Dagum

The LGU-Calbayog with the leadership of City Mayor Raymund C. Uy, Vice-Mayor Rex Daguman and City Councilors, through the DSWD FO8, CSWDO, BFP-Calbayog, and City Health Office collaborated to extend help for the victims of the fire incident that happened yesterday at Purok 1 & 6, Barangay Dagum.

Based on the initial assessment done by the Bureau of Fire Protection-Calbayog City, an unplugged cellphone charger started the fire that burned down a total of 29 households (24 totally damaged, 5 partially damaged) affecting 34 families (130 total individuals).

CSWD Officer Donato M. Albelda, Jr., RSW, CSWDO Calbayog Magic 20 Unit Head Aira L. Abon, RSW with her staff augmented by other unit staff responded to assess, collect victims’ information and facilitate the distribution of DSWD ready-to-eat food packs (RTEFPs). Private companies including MLhuillier, Fivestar Super Store and other private individuals also extended their help and provided beddings, used clothing and other in-kind assistance.

Let us pray for the affected families for their recovery in this trying times. Padayon la! ❤️🙏

Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act of 2022

In photos, the recently concluded Orientation on the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act (Republic Act No. 11861) of 2022 at CSWDO today. The activity was facilitated by Mr. Glendo Bonayog, RSW of North and South Wings Unit Child, Youth, Women and Family Welfare Program implementer attended by eight (8) solo parent applicants. The schedule for the orientation is every Friday except on holidays and other exceptions.
