Congratulations to Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro on the designation of Matibay na Bayan ng Sablayan, Home of the Apo Reef & Mounts Iglit-Baco Natural Parks, as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve! 🎉

The UNESCO National Commission of the Philippines (UNACOM) congratulates the Municipal Government of Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro on the designation of Matibay na Bayan ng Sablayan, Home of the Apo Reef & Mounts Iglit-Baco Natural Parks, as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

Apo Reef Natural Park and Mounts Iglit-Baco Natural Park are both ASEAN Heritage Parks, Important Bird Area (IBAs), and Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs). Additionally, Apo Reef is also a Blue Park (designated by the Marine Conservation Institute). Both parks are in the Tentative List for World Heritage inscription.

ATM | RDC MIMAROPA convenes for 2nd Quarter

The Council tackles regional interventions under the Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT) to cushion the impacts of global economic and energy disruptions in MIMAROPA. Discussions also highlight measures to address the possible effects of El Niño, particularly on agriculture and water resources, to safeguard food security across the region.

RDC MIMAROPA is committed to driving timely, responsive programs and projects that protect livelihoods, strengthen food security, and sustain economic growth for the people of MIMAROPA.

This June, the Philippines marks Judiciary Month, celebrating the 125th anniversary of the Supreme Court.

Declared under Presidential Proclamation No. 1265, s. 2026, the observance calls on government agencies, local government units, the private sector, and civil society to support and partake in the commemoration.

Established on June 11, 1901 through Act No. 136 of the Philippine Commission, the Supreme Court has stood as a pillar of justice—first led by Chief Justice Cayetano Arellano.

In line with this milestone year, the Court unveils a series of activities under the theme: “SC: 125 Years of Tradition and Innovation.”

The Regional Development Council (RDC) MIMAROPA held the 2026 Regional Legislative-Executive Advisory (LEA) Meeting on May 14, 2026, via Zoom to strengthen coordination between legislative and executive partners in advancing the region’s development priorities.

The meeting focused on the RDC-endorsed FY 2027 priority programs and projects (PAPs), with 11 regional line agencies presenting 935 priority PAPs amounting to PHP 136.48 billion, representing 79 percent of the region’s total RDC- endorsed FY 2027 PAPs. It was participated in by congressional legislators and their chiefs of staff, DBM MIMAROPA, regional line agencies, local government units, and the RDC Secretariat.

A total of 427 projects worth PHP 59.42 billion took center stage during the 2nd Quarter Meeting of the Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) MIMAROPA held on 13 May 2026 via Zoom videoconference, highlighting the region’s continuing push to strengthen infrastructure development, project implementation, and public investment monitoring.

MIMAROPA RPMC Chairperson and DEPDev MIMAROPA Regional Director Agustin C. Mendoza presided over the meeting and emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration and shared accountability in ensuring that government programs and infrastructure projects deliver meaningful and measurable benefits to communities. The meeting gathered representatives from national government agencies, local government units, the private sector, and development partners to discuss implementation updates and key regional concerns.

The Strong Republic Nautical Highway (SRNH) Inter‑Regional Committee convened its First Semester Meeting on May 13, 2026 to address persistent transport and logistics challenges affecting mobility, trade, and regional development in MIMAROPA.

The meeting, conducted via Zoom and hosted by the Regional Development Council (RDC) MIMAROPA, brought together key national government agencies, local government units, and private sector stakeholders. Participants included representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Land Transportation Office (LTO), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), Philippine Coast Guard, provincial governments, and major shipping and transport operators.

ATM: The Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) convenes for its Second Quarter Meeting today, May 21, 2026, via Zoom, bringing together key stakeholders to discuss pressing gender and development concerns in the region.

The meeting features updates on the 2026 National Women’s Month celebration, adolescent pregnancy and HIV situation in MIMAROPA, the latest provisions under PCW Advisory No. 2026-001, and GAD best practices from the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro.

𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐏𝐀𝐍 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘, 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐨 — The 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐔𝐬𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞 (𝐑𝐋𝐔𝐂) 𝐌𝐈𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐎𝐏𝐀 is currently convening its Second Quarter Meeting to fast-track critical urban planning frameworks and disaster-resilient development strategies across the region. Presided over by Chairperson and DEPDev MIMAROPA Regional Director, Dr. Agustin C. Mendoza, the committee reviews the Puerto Princesa City Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP) 2023-2037 and its accompanying Zoning Ordinance. Key provincial updates will also be tackled, notably the updating of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Adaptation (DRR/CCA) Enhanced Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plans (PDPFP) 2016-2025 for both provinces of Marinduque and Oriental Mindoro.

Strategic briefings from national line agencies will be shared to discuss Local Public Transport Route Plan preparation, and status reports on CLUP, Zoning Ordinance, and Local Shelter Plan formulations across the MIMAROPA provinces. Through these coordinated efforts, the committee continues to synchronize local governance mechanisms with long-term regional growth, environmental resilience, and sustainable land utilization.

The Regional Development Council (RDC) MIMAROPA convened the Regional Legislative-Executive Advisory (LEA) Meeting with Congressional District Representatives of MIMAROPA and their Chiefs of Staff, Department of Budget and Management MIMAROPA, Regional Directors and representatives from 11 regional line agencies and local government units, and discussed the highlights of the RDC-endorsed FY 2027 priority programs and projects (PAPs) for the region. The activity aimed to facilitate inter-agency coordination and secure legislative support for the inclusion of these priority PAPs in the proposed General Appropriations Act for FY 2027.
